Academy Award and Emmy Nominee Jeff Goldblum Joins the Cast of LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT for the Upcoming Eighth Season

NEW YORK, June 26 -- Academy Award(R) and Emmy(R) nominee Jeff Goldblum ("Raines," "Jurassic Park") will join the cast of the USA Network hit original series LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT when it returns for its eighth season. The announcement was made today by Jeff Wachtel, USA's executive vice-president of original programming and Dick Wolf, Executive Producer and creator of LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT.

USA recently picked up an eighth season for the hit series produced by Wolf Films and NBCU Cable Studio's. Created and executive produced by Emmy Award winning producer Dick Wolf and developed by Rene Balcer, LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT veers from the traditional "Law & Order" format by taking viewers into the minds of its criminals while following the psychological approaches the Major Case Squad uses to solve the crimes. The seventh season of LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT airs every Sunday at 9/8c on USA Network.

"Jeff is one of the most exciting actors around and is a perfect addition to the LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT ensemble. We are very excited to see what new moves he will bring to the Major Case Squad," said Wachtel.

"Jeff's presence will add a new dimension to an already successful show," Wolf commented.

"I'm really excited to join this group of incredibly talented people," said Goldblum.

Chris Noth will be leaving the series after his third season as Detective Mike Logan with LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT.

"Chris has been a member of the 'Law & Order' family since the beginning and Mike Logan is one of the most popular detectives in the history of television. We all wish him the best," Wolf said.

With a distinctive style and quirkiness, Goldblum has made a name for himself in both movies and television. In 1995, he was nominated for an Academy Award for his Live Action Short Film called "Little Surprises," which he shared with Tikki Goldberg. In 2005, he received an Emmy nomination for his guest appearance as Frank/Scott on the hit series "Will & Grace." His film credits include "Man of The Year" with Robin Williams, Wes Anderson's "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou," Steven Spielberg's "Jurassic Park" and "The Lost World," "Independence Day" with Will Smith, "Nine Months" with Hugh Grant and Julianne Moore, David Cronenberg's "The Fly" and "The Big Chill" with Glenn Close and Kevin Kline.

Most recently, Goldblum starred on the NBC series "Raines" set in Los Angeles, where he played a cop who solved crimes in an unusual way, and he completed production on the film "Adam Resurrected" directed by Paul Schrader ("Taxi Driver," "Bringing Out The Dead").

LAW & ORDER: CRIMINAL INTENT was the top drama series in basic cable prime for 4Q07 and brought new viewers to USA, more than doubling the Thursday 10pm time period audience from the same weeks the prior year.
