By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

DEXTER (Showtime) - Kristin Dattilo ("The Chris Isaak Show") is set to recur on the show's upcoming third season. She'll play Barbara Gianna, a tough vice cop, for at least five episodes. No other specifics were released.

ROYAL PAINS (USA) - Mark Feuerstein ("Good Morning, Miami") has been tapped for the lead role on the drama pilot, about an ex-ER doctor who becomes the on-call doctor for the rich denizens of the Hamptons. His casting lifts said contingency off the pilot's production. In addition, Jace Alexander ("Burn Notice") has been recruited to direct the 90-minute project from a script by Andrew Lenchewski. Rich Frank and Paul Frank are also executive producing.

THE UNIT (CBS) - Nicole Steinwedell has booked a recurring role on the military drama. She'll play Bridget Sullivan, a role for which further details weren't specified. "The Unit" shifts to Sunday nights at 10:00/9:00c this fall.

VALENTINE, INC. (The CW) - Kristoffer Polaha ("Miss/Guided"), Autumn Reeser ("The O.C.") and Robert Baker are the first to be cast on the MRC-produced newcomer, about Greek gods living among us. They'll play Danny, Phoebe and Leo, respectively, better known as Eros, the Goddess of the Oracle at Delphi and Hercules, respectively.
