MTV's #1 Thursday night program among P12-34, "Randy Jackson Presents: American's Best Dance Crew" (http://dancecrew.mtv.com) has been renewed for a third season and is scheduled to premiere this winter. A nationwide search for the next top hip-hop crews will begin in October. Setting a new record for the series, more than 39 million votes were cast to crown Las Vegas B-Boys Super Cr3w "America's Best Dance Crew" in last night's high-octane finale which dominated the Thursday night (8-11pm) competition across all of cable among P12-34. Next, Super Cr3w joins the "Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew LIVE" tour with season one crews JabbaWockeeZ and Break Sk8. Groups and individuals also can post their own dance videos at http://dance.mtv.com to gain the attention of fellow dancers, viewers and fans � and the chance to be featured on-air once season three kicks off.
On the "America's Best Dance Crew: Battle for the VMAs" special, airing next Saturday, August 30 at 1:00 p.m. ET/PT, the innovative and energetic crews from seasons one and two return to the ABDC stage for the chance of a lifetime � to present at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 7. Season one crews Status Quo, Kaba Modern and Break Sk8 will compete against season two crews SoReal Cru and Fanny Pak as each crew performs to one of the music video nominees. For the first time, the champions of season one and two � JabbaWockeeZ and Super Cr3w � will dance together to a choreographed routine by Shane Sparks. Judges JC Chasez, Lil Mama and Shane Sparks will give their input on the five music video performances, but the ultimate decision will made by the viewers, as fans can visit http://dancecrew.mtv.com to vote for which crew should present. The winning crew will be revealed at the Video Music Awards when they come on stage to present the award.
Dance crews from around the country will have the opportunity to show their hottest moves to choreographer Napoleon and casting director Michelle McNulty when "America's Best Dance Crew" hits the road. Open calls and callbacks will be held in Atlanta (October 11 & 12), St. Louis (October 14 & 15), New York City (October 18 & 19) and Los Angeles (October 25 & 26). Now fans at home can have their own toe-tapping, show-stopping experience by attending the "Randy Jackson Presents America's Best Dance Crew LIVE" show, featuring five crews from the first two seasons. The season finale of "America's Best Dance Crew" served the competition on Thursday night (8-11pm), ranking #1 across all of cable among P12-34 and delivering a 1.8 rating. For the season, the competition series delivered a 1.8 rating among P12-34 and has averaged 1.9 million viewers (P2+) with an average of 1.4 million from our P12-34 core. Season-to-date, "America's Best Dance Crew" has reached more than 75.9 million total viewers (P2+) with 35.3 million from the core P12-34 demographic. The show's online area has averaged nearly 400k visitors a week, with weekly usage having grown +24% since the second season premiere. Additionally, nearly 20 million page views and more than 18 million streams for content have been generated for the second season to-date.
"America's Best Dance Crew" is hosted by Mario Lopez and shot on location in Los Angeles as dance crews of five to seven members perform their hottest moves for dance supremacy, a $100,000 cash prize and a spot on the "America's Best Dance Crew LIVE" tour. Every performance-themed episode gives insight into the crews' emotion, spirit and inspiration as they step up to the challenge and showcase their innovative choreography and skills. Viewers from around the country choose their favorite crews via text messaging, phone and online voting (http://dancecrew.mtv.com). The two weakest teams as determined by voting show their best moves for the judges � JC Chasez, Lil Mama and Shane Sparks � with the hope of advancing to the next round. One crew will be eliminated each week, ultimately revealing the nation's best dance crew.
