NEW YORK, OCT. 6, 2008 � The new season of History's hit series UFO HUNTERS returns on Wednesday, October 29 at 10 pm ET/PT and continues to investigate the most intriguing UFO cases of all time. In the premiere episode, videos of strange lights seen over Illinois and the world are estimated to be a solid object as large as 1500 feet across. It's just one intriguing theory to emerge out of a program that does not seek to prove or disprove the existence of UFOS, but rather to evaluate the evidence in a methodical, historical way.

UFO HUNTERS follows the team of Bill Birnes, Dr. Ted Acworth and Pat Uskert, as they investigate UFO cases around the world. The team's access to UFO evidence is unparalleled � and their expertise allows them to quickly identify bogus claims of UFOs. Together, they use eyewitness accounts, scientific experimentation, documents recently released through the Freedom of Information Act and footage that has never been seen on television to piece together compelling � and sometimes chilling � evidence of UFO phenomena.

This season they will investigate some contemporary cases where video and audio evidence are in abundance, and dig into history for evidence of sightings going back centuries. Their investigations will take them across North America and Europe including Tinley Park, Illinois; Kokomo, Indiana; Aurora, Texas; a fresh look at Roswell, New Mexico; and others � spanning the years from 1897 to 2008.

INVASION ILLINOIS (Oct. 29) � Proof of a giant UFO over Illinois and world?

Analysis of video taken of an alleged UFO over Illinois suggests the object could have been as large as 1500 feet across. The video, featured on UFO HUNTERS, captured three bright lights in a triangular pattern. It was part of a mass sighting of over fifty reports near Tinley Park, Illinois in 2004. Upon investigating, the UFO HUNTER team discovered that similar objects were reported all over the world in the days surrounding this event � from Australia to Canada. Sightings of triangular-shaped UFOs have been on the rise in recent decades, but was the Tinley Park mass sighting a solid object, or as some believe, a hoax involving weather balloons and flares? Analysis of the video suggests it could have been a solid object larger than any known craft.

UFO EMERGENCY (Nov. 5) � Police tapes and radar proof of UFOs over America?

Police tapes, video, and the testimony of a radar operator suggest something very strange was seen over Ohio in 1994; Holland, Michigan in 1994; and Millstadt, Illinois in 2000. On December 14, 1994 police departments in Trumbull County, Ohio and surrounding areas start getting 911 calls of strange lights in the sky. Police in multiple jurisdictions report seeing strange objects, even chasing them. Sergeant Toby Meloro of the Liberty Township Police Department was one of the first to respond. The tapes of Meloro's stunning conversation with a police operator as he sees the object are featured in the show, along with an interview with Meloro himself, who says the object he saw looked like a large, pulsating light. For the first time, a National Weather Service radar operator comes forward to describe the radar signatures he saw that night. Says Jack Bushong: �Never seen anything move so fast.�

HEARTLAND EXPLOSION (Nov. 12) � Strange booms and lights over Indiana skies

Late in the evening of April 16th, 2008, the tiny town of Kokomo, Indiana was rocked by an earth- shaking high-decibel boom. Houses shook. Panicked citizens called 911. Police, firefighters and Homeland Security showed up to investigate. And witnesses claimed to see strange orange balls of light in the sky attached to something they couldn't identify. The UFO HUNTERS team heads to the heartland to unravel the clues behind the strange booms and menacing lights over the skies of Indiana, one of the most current UFO sightings in America. One of the most common theories is that the noise was caused by the sonic boom from a military jet, but new findings from UFO HUNTERS call this theory into serious question.

FIRST CONTACT (Nov. 19) � Proof from an 1897 crash may lie at the bottom of a well

On April 19, 1897, the Dallas Morning News reported a mysterious airship had crashed into a windmill in the nearby town of Aurora, Texas. Townspeople were said to have found an alien body and buried it in the local graveyard; and some of the crash debris was reportedly dumped into a local well. More than 40 years later, the ranch owners were reporting skin lesions and crippling rheumatoid arthritis, which were attributed to tainted well water. The well was sealed over and forgotten. Now, more than a century after the event, the UFO HUNTERS team will reopen the well, and search for the legendary grave, as they attempt to solve one of the earliest American UFO cases ever recorded.

Future episodes of UFO HUNTERS will investigate new evidence regarding crash sites at Roswell... secrets buried in the files of a famous investigator... strange lights over Arizona both in the past and recently ... and UFO sightings all over the world.

The UFO HUNTERS team is passionate about separating fact from fallacy when it comes to UFO incidents. Each brings a different background and perspective: Bill Birnes is publisher of UFO Magazine, home to one of the world's largest collections of documentation on UFO incidents. Also from UFO Magazine is investigator Pat Uskert, who became intrigued with the UFO phenomenon after he witnessed a strange metallic object floating over Venice, California. Dr. Ted Acworth is a mechanical engineer and researcher who has worked for NASA and MIT. He brings the discipline of hard science to the team, assisting in the investigations of reported UFO incidents to determine if they are real.
