By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

COLD CASE (CBS) - Raymond J. Barry ("Welcome to the Captain") has landed a recurring role on the veteran CBS drama. He'll play Paul Cooper, the father of Kathryn Morris's character. It's not clear when his first episode will air.

EUREKA (Sci Fi) - Jaime Ray Newman ("Veronica Mars") has booked a multi-episode arc on the series. She'll play Dr. Tess Fontana, a brilliant engineer and astrophysicist who sees things differently than those around her, in at least five episodes later this season. It's also understood her character is being eyed as a potential love interest for Colin Ferguson's Jack Carter.

THE INBETWEENERS (ABC, New!) - U.K. writers/producers Iain Morris and Damon Beesley have lined up a pair of projects at the Alphabet, including a domestic take on their current E4 series "The Inbetweeners." Said project, which has a put pilot commitment, revolves around four high school boys who belong to the "inbetweeners" social class - teens who are not the most cool and popular but not geeky enough to be branded uncool. The second project is a blind script commitment with a penalty attached if it doesn't move forward. Both efforts are set up at ABC Studios with Morris and Beesley writing and executive producing via their Bwark Productions banner.

KINGS/LOST & FOUND (NBC) - Famed character actor Brian Cox ("Deadwood") has landed gigs on two upcoming Peacock projects. On "Kings," due at midseason, he'll play King Vesper, the nemesis of King Silas (Ian McShane), in a four-episode arc. And on "Lost & Found," a drama pilot at the network, he's set as Burt Macey, the fractious partner of Katee Sackhoff's character - a foul-mouthed, racist dinosaur of a cop. Said hour stars Sackhoff as Tessa, an offbeat LAPD detective who, after butting heads with the higher-ups, is sent as a punishment to the basement to work on John Doe and Jane Doe cases. Chris Levinson is behind "Lost & Found," a co-production of Universal Media Studios and Wolf Films.

THE UNITED STATES OF TARA (Showtime) - Fred Ward ("ER") is set to play father to Toni Collette in the upcoming comedy series, due in January. It's not clear when his character, Frank Gregson, will make his first appearance.
