CHANGE THE CHANNEL TO ABC... "WIPEOUT SUPERBALL SUNDAY" -- CHEERLEADERS VS. COUCH POTATOES -- THE WILDEST "WIPEOUT" EVER, SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1 ON ABC

Hall of Famer Michael Irvin Is Guest Sideline Reporter with Jill Wagner

Ready, set, hike! Just in time for the nation's most highly anticipated football game of the year, it's going to be the wildest "Wipeout" ever when 13 lively cheerleaders try to blitz 13 couch potato guys in a special football-inspired edition of the hit summer series "Wipeout Superball Sunday." Hosted by John Anderson (ESPN's "SportsCenter"), John Henson ("Talk Soup"), Jill Wagner and special guest sideline reporter Michael Irvin (former Dallas Cowboy and NFL Hall of Fame member ), "Wipeout Superball Sunday" airs SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 1, 2009 on ABC in a special segment during half-time of the Superbowl, and continuing with more hilarious antics immediately following the game. So switch over to ABC and party with "Wipeout!"

Transformed into a football-themed extravaganza, "Wipeout's" brand new, more massive, high-stakes course includes the Big Balls morphed into giant football helmets, with a 300-pound linebacker prompting contestants to run across them at warp speed. Players will also try to tackle the 10 Yard Dash Log Roll as quarterbacks from the sideline pelt them with paint soaked footballs. Replacing the Sweeper is King of the Mountain, where 12 contestants race to get to the center of a moving platform while avoiding swinging beams that would catapult them into the freezing water. Plus the new souped up Dizzy Dummy 2.0 features the Teeter Totter Turf Tackle and the Keg Run.

There may not be holding, but there will be plenty of hits, falls and instant replays. Who will score the ultimate touchdown and emerge victorious -- the cheerleaders or the couch potatoes? Adding to the excitement will be the world famous USC marching band blasting game day tunes, plus the first ever appearance of the "Wipeout" Big Ball mascot.

A special tailgate area features interviews with the cheerleaders and the couch potatoes, complete with bratwurst, burgers, hot dogs -- the works! And several surprise Pro Football superstars will stop by the announcers' booth to check out the action with John Anderson and John Henson.

"Wipeout" is executive-produced by Matt Kunitz and Scott Larsen. The series is produced by Endemol USA. David Goldberg is the President of Endemol USA.
