Sarah Chalke to Star in Maneater, a World Premiere Miniseries Based on Best-Selling Novel to Air on Lifetime Television in 2009

Adaptation of Gigi Levangie Grazer's NEW YORK TIMES #1 Best-Selling Book to be Directed by TIMOTHY BUSFIELD from a Teleplay by SUZANNE MARTIN and Produced by SONY PICTURES TELEVISION

LOS ANGELES, Dec. 11 -- A glamorous Hollywood social climber finally meets her match in Maneater, a four-hour Lifetime Original miniseries starring Sarah Chalke (Lifetime's Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy, Scrubs) and to be directed by Timothy Busfield (Lipstick Jungle, Ed, Without a Trace). Maneater, produced by Sony Pictures Television and based on Gigi Levangie Grazer's best-selling book of the same name (The Starter Wife), will be adapted by two-time Emmy(R) Award winner Suzanne Martin (Frasier) and is set to premiere in 2009.

Beautiful, fashionable and fun, Clarissa Alpert (Chalke) is a shallow socialite whose speed dial is a veritable Rolodex of Hollywood power players. Staring her 32nd birthday directly in the eyes (even though she will admit only to being 28), the spoiled daddy's girl is in a panic because she is still single. Clarissa, though, always gets what she wants -- even if he's Aaron Mason, the hottest new producer in town. With the help of her family and friends, Clarissa sets into motion an elaborate plan to lasso the dashing filmmaker who will, she hopes, be the man to put a ring on her finger.

Sarah Chalke stars as "Dr. Elliot Reid" on the long-running, Emmy(R)-nominated comedy series Scrubs now on ABCand had a recurring role on the hit sitcom How I Met Your Mother. In 2006, Chalke starred as Lifetime Television executive and breast cancer survivor Geralyn Lucas in Lifetime's Outstanding Made for Television Movie Emmy nominee Why I Wore Lipstick to My Mastectomy. Other film projects include the independent feature Chaos Theory co-starring Ryan Reynolds and Emily Mortimer, as well the Williamstown Theatre Festival production of Create Fate and the Off-Broadway production of Modern Orthodox. The Canada native received her big break in 1993 when she was cast as daughter "Becky Conner" in the ABC comedy Roseanne.

Timothy Busfield began his career in front of the camera. Best known for his role as White House reporter "Danny Concannon" on the critically acclaimed series The West Wing andhis Emmy Award-winning portrayal of "Elliot Weston" on the television series thirtysomething, Busfield also starred in Reggie, Trapper John, M.D. and the feature films Revenge of the Nerds and Field of Dreams. Busfield began directing episodes of thirtysomething while still acting on the show and has directed episodes of Sports Night, Ed, Joan of Arcadia, Las Vegasand Lipstick Jungle. In addition, he served as co-executive producer of Ed and Without a Trace and executive producer of Lipstick Jungle.

Maneater will be produced by Sony Pictures Television for Lifetime Television. Suzanne Martin(Hot Properties, Spellbound), Gigi Levangie Grazer (The Starter Wife) and Stephanie Davis for 3 Arts Entertainment (The Starter Wife, The 51st State) are executive producers of the teleplay written by Martin.
