FOX REALITY CHANNEL'S ORIGINAL SERIES "HOUSEHUSBANDS OF HOLLYWOOD" TO PREMIERE IN AUGUST
Stay-at-home Tinseltown husbands juggle households and egos while their wives bring home the bacon
LOS ANGELES, CA Fox Reality Channel has greenlit production on its newest original series "Househusbands of Hollywood." The nine episode, one-hour series, slated to premiere in August 2009, is produced by Marilyn Wilson Productions Inc., with Marilyn Wilson, Lisa Bernstein and Scooter Pietsch serving as executive producers and co-creators. The show concept was borne out of the experiences of actor/screenwriter Charlie Mattera, married to a prominent psychologist. He also serves as an executive producer and co-creator of the show.
The new original series turns the tables on the saying, "Behind every great man there's a great woman." This time around the women are bringing home the bacon and the men are at home frying it up. "Househusbands of Hollywood" showcases the lives of five men and their high-powered, bread-winning wives. This twist on traditional roles is quickly becoming a modern dilemma, and Fox Reality Channel has tapped into this evolving role-reversal phenomenon across the United States. In Hollywood, a place that defines you based on what you do, who you are seen with and what you earn, these men must juggle their egos, their wives' success and their unique marriages. Audiences will witness the couples' lives intertwine and prove that perhaps the grass "at home" is not always greener.
"'Househusbands of Hollywood' introduces audiences to a shifting dynamic happening within households," said Bob Boden, SVP of Programming, Production & Development at Fox Reality Channel. "The husbands each have varied perspectives on their current lifestyle. The one common element they share is they're not the ones bringing home the big paycheck."
Rounding out the Hollywood househusbands along with Charlie Mattera are: former Los Angeles Dodger Billy Ashley, married to successful celebrity makeup artist Lisa Ashley; aspiring actor Danny Barclay and his wife Katherine Barclay, a high-powered Hollywood attorney; Darryl M. Bell, best known for his role on "A Different World," plays house with actress Tempestt Bledsoe formerly of "The Cosby Show"; and former Marine Corps sniper Grant Reynolds, husband of Jillian Reynolds, of "FOX NFL Sunday" and "Good Day LA."
"We're thrilled to be working with Fox Reality Channel to bring viewers this fascinating look into the lives of stay-at-home-men, said executive producer, Marilyn Wilson. "With our current economic situation, we think people all across America will be able relate to these non-traditional family arrangements. Plus, our househusbands and their wives all have incredible stories to tell about their relationships, families, careers and life as they know it in Hollywood."
