DIRECTV's The 101 Network Intensifies Its Lineup with Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated Mini-Series Sleeper Cell

Seasons One and Two to Air Wednesday Nights, Beginning Jan. 28

EL SEGUNDO, Calif., Jan. 26, 2009 DIRECTV's Wednesday night line-up is getting even more intense with the addition of the critically acclaimed Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated mini-series Sleeper Cell. The gripping series tells the story of an undercover FBI agent who infiltrates a U.S.-based cell of Islamic terrorists. All 18 episodes (Seasons One and Two) will air commercial-free and in HD on Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning Jan. 28, 2009, only on DIRECTV's The 101 Network and DIRECTV on DEMAND.

An edge-of-your-seat action thriller, Sleeper Cell first aired on Showtime network in 2005 and was met with critical praise and accolades. Starring Michael Ealy and Oded Fehr, the series takes viewers underneath the veil of a terrorist network and unfolds the harrowing challenges faced by an agent determined to uncover its dark, twisted intentions. Sleeper Cell involves current events and pertinent political developments into its storylines as it explores the personal and professional side of committed agents combating the greatest and most concealed threat in the nation's history. In 2006, the mini-series received an Emmy Award nomination, Golden Globe nomination and Television Critics Association Award Nomination. Additionally, Michael Ealy earned a Golden Globe nod for his role in the second season.

"I am thrilled to bring Sleeper Cell to The 101Network," said Eric Shanks, executive vice president of Entertainment at DIRECTV.
