THE GIRLS NEXT DOOR (E!) - Kendra Wilkinson is set to topline a spin-off of the long-running reality series, which will focus on her life after leaving the Playboy Mansion and her impending marriage to Philadelphia Eagles receiver Hank Baskett. Prometheus Entertainment, Fox Television Studios and Alta Loma Entertainment are all on board to co-produce the project, dubbed simply "Kendra," as is executive producer Kevin Burns. The news comes as the "Girls" franchise undergoes a major revival - twins Karissa and Kristina Shannon are expected to take over the reigns from Wilkinson, Holly Madison and Bridget Marquardt for its sixth season, due this fall.
UNTITLED BETHANY MCLEAN/JOE NOCERA PROJECT (HBO, New!) - Joe Nocera and Bethany McLean's upcoming book about the financial meltdown of 2008 has been optioned as a potential movie by the pay channel. Nocera, who wrote a New York Times Magazine cover story on the crisis, and McLean, who chronicled the failure of Fannie Mae for Vanity Fair, recently sold the book to Penguin imprint Portfolio for seven figures. The project, like the book, will detail everything from the roots of the crisis to how it was handled by Wall Street to the multibillion-dollar government bailout. No other specifics were given.
