Hollywood Radio & Television Society To Host Festival's Kick-Off Event

LOS ANGELES, June 25, 2009 � Two of the television industry's most prolific and successful writers/producers will speak at the LATV Fest's Industry Insight luncheons on Wednesday, July 8, and Thursday, July 9. Greg Berlanti, whose credits include Brothers & Sisters, Dirty Sexy Money and Dawson's Creek, will appear on Wednesday. Steven Levitan, the creator of the upcoming ABC series Modern Family and the long-running Just Shoot Me, will speak on Thursday.

It was also announced that the Hollywood Radio & Television Society (HRTS) will host LATV Fest's official kick-off party the evening of July 7 at X bar at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza. The gala event, which marks the final HRTS session of the 2008-09 season, is open to HRTS members, LATV Fest participants, attendees and special guests.

Greg Berlanti is an executive producer of the acclaimed ABC drama Brothers & Sisters and served as executive producer on Dirty Sexy Money and Eli Stone, which he also co-created. In addition, he created and executive produced The WB's critically acclaimed dramas Everwood and Jack & Bobby. Prior to that, he executive produced The WB series Dawson's Creek. He also wrote and directed the film The Broken Hearts Club, which premiered at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. In addition to his television work, Berlanti just finished co-writing and is a producer on the Warner Bros. feature The Green Lantern.

Emmy Award-winner Steven Levitan has been writing, producing and creating television comedies for more than eighteen years. He began his career as a staff writer on Wings, where he remained for four years moving up the ranks to co-executive producer. From there, he became a co-executive producer on The Larry Sanders Show before joining Frasier in 1995, also as co-executive producer. In 1997, he created the hit NBC series Just Shoot Me, executive producing its seven season-run. Levitan went on to create the shows Stark Raving Mad, Greg the Bunny, Stacked, Back To You and most recently, Modern Family, which debuts this fall on ABC.

The two day conference will be held at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los Angeles from July 8 to 9.
