When United States Senator, vocal liberal and member of American royalty, Ted Kennedy lost his battle with brain cancer on Tuesday evening at the age of 77, the world said goodbye to a passionate leader and a dear friend. On Thursday, August 27th BIO Channel commemorates the life of an American icon with �BIO Remembers: Ted Kennedy� at 9PM ET / 8PM CT / 10PM PT.

With nearly 50 years under the Senate and a long list of legislative achievements in health care, civil rights, education and immigration, Ted Kennedy dedicated his life to making an impact on American politics and will be remembered as one of the most influential figures of our time. Among many accomplishments, he contributed to the landmark 1990 Americans with Disabilities Act, Meals on Wheels for the elderly, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and was also a key delegate on creating a Medicare prescription drug benefit for senior citizens and a relentless critic of the war in Iraq. In 2008 he lent his endorsement to then-Senator Barack Obama for the Democratic presidential nomination and under the Obama administration, Kennedy continued to work towards his major legislative goal for universal healthcare.
