Drawing Back the Curtain on Wilson's Multifaceted Life
(Santa Monica, CA)- October 21, 2009 GSN announced today a new original reality series, "CARNIE WILSON: UNSTAPLED," starring game show host, singer and entertainer Carnie Wilson, slated to premiere Thursday, January 14, 2010 on GSN. The reality show will draw back the curtain on the personality behind the game show host, as Wilson juggles her careers as game show host, singer, entrepreneur, activist, andmost importantlyas a wife and the mother of two young girls. Wilson also just returned to host the second season of GSN's hit series, THE NEWLYWED GAME last week, on October 12. The announcement was made by Kelly Goode, Senior Vice President, Programming for GSN.
"Carnie's relatable life story is a perfect fit with our viewers, who are eager to discover the person behind the personality," says Goode. "In addition to being a charismatic and engaging entertainer, Carnie is a working mother with two very young childrenincluding a newborna businessperson, and a woman who has spoken honestly about her struggles with her weight. Our viewers love Carnie, and she has helped make THE NEWLYWED GAME our #1 rated show, so this is a natural direction for GSN."
"I am thrilled to be working with GSN on my new seriesI have so much fun doing THE NEWLYWED GAME, and I love to engage my fans and let them know about what's happening in my life," says Wilson. "I know there are so many people going through the same stages of life that I'm experiencing, and this new series gives us a great opportunity for an honest and lively give-and-take."
THE NEWLYWED GAME has been a ratings success story for GSN: the series improved each time slot in which it has been scheduled, whether in households or target demos (P18-49, P25-54, W25-54). It also ranked #1 in Household Delivery, P18-49 and P25-54 when compared with all other GSN original strips' premiere weeks.
