truTV Greenlights New Series SOUTHERN FRIED STINGS, Following a Former State Trooper with a Unique Take on Intervention

truTV has given a greenlight to SOUTHERN FRIED STINGS, an exciting new series that follows a former state trooper and his team as they go after people engaged in illicit activities, from dealing drugs to fencing stolen goods. The series, which comes to truTV from ZOO Productions and Studio Lambert, is set to premiere in March 2010.

SOUTHERN FRIED STINGS centers on Jay Russell, a former state trooper and addiction expert. Whether it's a loved one consumed by drug addiction or a person stealing a boat for a naked joyride, when no one else can help, Jay Russell and his team of highly trained investigators are ready to serve up some of what they call, "Southern Justice."

Russell's no-nonsense team includes surveillance, security and canine experts, as well as his sassy sidekick, England Simpson, who doesn't hesitate to let Jay know what's on her mind. With Russell and his team on the scene, there's no need to involve the police, but that doesn't mean it's going to be an easy ride.

"With its rapid-fire storytelling and a memorable cast of characters led by Jay Russell, SOUTHERN FRIED STINGS is an ideal fit with truTV's lineup of originals that put viewers in the middle of the action," said Marc Juris, executive vice president and general manager of truTV/IN SESSION.

SOUTHERN FRIED STINGS is executive-produced by Barry Poznick, John Stevens, Charles Steenveld, Stephen Lambert and Eli Holzman. For truTV, Robyn Hutt serves as executive in charge of production, with Diane Best serving as executive producer.

With more than 1000 hours of original programming since its inception in 1994, ZOO Productions, a division of All3Media, has become one of the U.S.'s premier production companies for comedy-based reality programming. With the smash hit Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader?, ZOO Productions' programming can be seen in more than 150 countries worldwide. Their hit shows include MTV's Busted, Oxygen's Girls Behaving Badly and the successful Spring Break franchise for MTV. Barry Poznick and John Stevens are the founders and co-CEOs of ZOO Productions, and Charles Steenveld is president.

Studio Lambert, a division of All3Media, is a fast-growing independent production company based in London and Los Angeles. It is currently producing soon-to-launch Undercover Boss for CBS and has several other shows in production or development for Bravo, Style, MTV and Travel. Studio Lambert was launched in 2008. Previously, CEO Stephen Lambert created and executive-produced the long-running Wife Swap for ABC, and Eli Holzman, who heads up Studio Lambert in Los Angeles, created and executive-produced Project Runway for Bravo.

truTV is television's destination for real-life stories told from an exciting and dramatic first-person perspective. Currently seen in 92 million U.S. households, the 18-year-old network is enjoying its best deliveries ever in key demographics. truTV features high-stakes, action-packed originals that give viewers access to places and situations they can't normally experience. truTV's primetime fan favorites include the original series Black Gold, Operation Repo, The Smoking Gun Presents: World's Dumbest and Forensic Files. During the daytime, the channel features expert trial coverage under the name IN SESSION.
