ISABELLA ROSSELLINI AND THE YES MEN JOIN THE PLANET GREEN FAMILY AS THE NETWORK ANNOUNCES NEW DEVELOPMENT DEALS

Silver Spring, Md. - In an ongoing effort to expand the brand's scope, Planet Green announces today four new development deals featuring narratives by an eclectic group of mavericks - including actress Isabella Rossellini and the masters of hijinks, the Yes Men - who make a difference by relating their very personal and varied experiences to prove the real impact humans can make in their surroundings. Laura Michalchyshyn, President and General Manager, Planet Green, Discovery Health, Fit TV and TreeHugger made the announcement:

"Planet Green tells intriguing stories about inspiring mavericks who never stop believing or questioning that they can make a difference," said Michalchyshyn. "We eagerly anticipate the development of these new programs featuring an incredible group of artists and personalities who embrace those possibilities with audacity, humor and creative ingenuity."

Simulcast in HD, the following special and series come to Planet Green starting in late 2010, and will air on the network during the brand new 'Verge' primetime programming block (in alphabetical order):

Series Development:

ISABELLA ROSSELLINI PROJECT

Actress and filmmaker, Isabella Rossellini takes on double duty in front and behind the camera in this innovative and stylized one-hour special. Isabella's mind races as she ponders the strange and wonderful life of creatures she encounters daily in her New York City environment. From observing the demodex that lives on her eyelashes to a hilarious "dialogue" with Charles Darwin, this project is an exploration of how man and animal co-exist in the subtlest of ways. The special will be produced by Rick Gilbert with Isabella Rossellini.

YES MEN, THE TELEVISION SHOW

YES MEN is an irreverent new series that's part Ashton Kutcher's Punk'd, Ali G and Michael Moore-like mini-documentaries. It spoofs reality and current affairs in a hilarious and playful way as Andy Bichlbaum and Mike Bonnano pose as corporate and government spokespeople from countries around the world. These YES MEN have become a pop-culture phenomenon. Their pranks are elaborate and the results are profound as they consistently challenge the accepted status quo on a variety of topics. As a pair of creative hoaxers, the YES MEN turn initial impressions about societal falsehoods upside-down, through impersonation, infiltration and sophisticated public theatre. YES MEN is produced by Renegade Pictures for Planet Green.

TREEHUGGER TV

Taking inspiration from Planet Green's highly-trafficked website Treehugger.com, TREEHUGGER TV is a new series that takes an irreverent, humorous and provocative point of view about pressing topics from around the globe. A team of unexpected yet credible journalists, personalities and comedians will be the entry point into a world of big ideas and future-minded daredevils. Through these stories, the show deconstructs and rebrands the word "treehugger" from crunchy granola to innovative and adventurous.
