Reality Blooms in the Spring for Cable

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Cable isn't waiting until the summer to roll out its latest wave of originals.

More than 40 newcomers will bow in the next few months while even more are due back.

Here's a breakdown of the latest additions:

-- CMT will offer up its new "adventure" reality series "Gator 911" and "Danger Coast" on Friday, April 9 starting at 9:00/8:00c. The former "chronicles the adventures of Gary Suarage, conservationist and owner of the Texas-based adventure park, Gator Country" while the latter details "the dramatic exploits of Miami's elite waterborne Marine Operations Bureau as they fight against overwhelming odds to selflessly protect the public at large."

-- E! has booked the second season premiere of "Kendra" for Sunday, March 14 at 10:00/9:00c. Leading out of the show's sophomore season will be "Pretty Wild," a Chelsea Handler-produced reality series about tabloid fodder the Neiers sisters.

-- Discovery's veteran franchise "Mythbusters" will return with new episodes of Wednesday, March 24 at 9:00/8:00c. Meanwhile on its sister networks, Science Channel will offer up "Machines!" (formerly "How Machines Work") on Friday, March 5; TLC will get "Addicted" on Wednesday, March 17; and Investigation Discovery will be back "On the Case With Paula Zahn" on Sunday, April 18.

-- On Thursday, April 8, look for "LisaRaye: The Real McCoy" on TV One. The reality series tracks the day-to-day world of the actress/fashion designer.

-- MTV will offer up the 19th edition of "The Real World/Road Rules Challenge" on Wednesday, April 7 at 10:00/9:00c. Then on Tuesday, April 27, the cable channel will roll out new seasons of "The Hills" and "The City."

-- Troy Dunn's "The Locator" will move outside its usual Saturday night home when its fourth season premieres Wednesday, March 3 at 10:00/9:00c on WE tv.

-- And finally over on the Travel Channel, "Dhani Tackles the Globe" returns with a new season on Monday, April 19 at 11:00/10:00c. The following week, look for "Bizarre Foods" to kick off its fifth season on Monday, April 26 at 10:00/9:00c.
