Exclusive: Spike TV Benches "Players"

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Spike TV has benched its freshman comedy "Players" after just three weeks on the air.
Encores of lead-in "Blue Mountain State" will fill the Tuesday, 10:30/9:30c half-hour for the rest of the month, with repeats of "Deadliest Warrior" taking over on April 6.
The newcomer, about two brothers (Matt Walsh and Ian Roberts) with conflicting personalities trying to run a successful sports bar, averaged a 0.20 rating among adults 18-49 during its brief stretch, a 41% loss from lead-in "Blue Mountain State" during said period (0.34 adults 18-49 rating).
It's not clear when - or if - the seven remaining installments will air.
Last month, Spike TV ordered a second season of 13 episodes for "Blue Mountain State."
