DOWNFALL (ABC, New!) - FremantleMedia North America has reportedly landed a series commitment from the Alphabet for a new game show in which "players answer trivia questions on top of a skyscraper in a major metropolitan city for $1 million in cash and prizes." Scott St. John is behind the project, which will see contestants' winnings go off the side of the building if they lose. Chris Ahern and Graham Shaw will serve as supervising producers with St. John executive producing. Full format details however weren't specified. ABC is expected to announce its summer lineup, which will apparently include "Downfall," sometime this week.
HITCHED (CBS) - Sharon Lawrence has booked the final principal role on the comedy pilot, about a twentysomething newlywed couple (Jack Carpenter, Kristin Kreuk) navigating their new life together. She'll play Judy Reynolds ("the epitome of loving and solid... and nosy"), the bride's mother. Kurtwood Smith co-stars as her husband Wally. Josh Schwartz and Matt Miller are behind the Warner Bros. Television-based half-hour, to be directed by Rob Greenberg. Eugene Levy, Riki Lindhome and Thomas Middleditch also star.
