NEW YORK (May 26, 2010) - MTV today announced that Academy Award(R)-winning actress Sandra Bullock will receive the "MTV Generation Award" during the "2010 MTV Movie Awards" for her riveting and diverse contributions to the film industry and for entertaining generations of the MTV audience over the last two decades. The first female recipient to be honored with this revered award, Bullock is one of the most accomplished, multifaceted and beloved actresses of her time. She has made legions of moviegoers both laugh and cry through heartfelt and wide-ranging roles that continue to break the mold and box-office records. Since her breakout role in the 1994 hit action film "Speed," Bullock has captivated audiences by starring in blockbuster motion pictures that include "While You Were Sleeping," "A Time To Kill," "Crash," "Miss Congeniality," "Hope Floats," "Two Weeks Notice" and her "2010 MTV Movie Awards" nominated fan-favorites "The Proposal" and "The Blind Side." The "MTV Generation Award" is the "MTV Movie Awards" highest honor, acknowledging an actor who has engaged the MTV audience throughout their career. Past recipients include Ben Stiller, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers, Tom Cruise and Jim Carrey. Hosted by Aziz Ansari, the "2010 MTV Movie Awards" will be broadcast LIVE from the Gibson Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA on Sunday, June 6 at 9p.m./8p.m.C.

Sandra Bullock is one of Hollywood's most sought after leading ladies. Bullock just won an Academy Award(R) for "Best Actress" for her role in "The Blind Side," as well as a Critics' Choice Award, a Golden Globe, and a Screen Actors Guild Award for her portrayal of Leigh Anne Tuoy. Following acclaimed roles in several motion pictures, Sandra Bullock's breakthrough came in the 1994 runaway hit "Speed" after which she went on to star in such fan favorites and blockbusters as "While You Were Sleeping," "A Time to Kill," "Crash" and "Two Weeks Notice." In addition to her formidable acting credits, Bullock is also a successful producer through her production company Fortis Films where she's produced movies such as "Practical Magic," "Hope Floats" and "Miss Congeniality." Bullock made her debut as a writer/director with the short film "Making Sandwiches," in which she also starred with Matthew McConaughey. Bullock's production credits also extend to television as she served as an executive producer of the highly successful "The George Lopez Show" which aired on ABC for six seasons. In addition, Christina Aguilera will return to the "Movie Awards" stage for a highly anticipated performance from her explosive new album Bionic (available June 8) and Katy Perry will perform her hit summer anthem "California Gurls," the first single from her forthcoming album Teenage Dream (available August 24). Viewers will also be treated to an exclusive scene from the upcoming summer blockbuster "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" (in theaters June 30) during the show while a member of "The Twilight Saga" wolf pack hits the red carpet. "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse" cast member Chaske Spencer will serve as the official MTV International "2010 MTV Movie Awards" guest red carpet correspondent as part of a special edition of "MTV At The Movies," which will bring audiences outside the United States closer to the biggest names in the industry and the most talked about moments as part of MTV's global coverage of the "2010 MTV Movie Awards."

It's anyone's and any film's game as the MTV fans hold the destiny of the golden popcorn awards in their hands. From May 12 - June 5, viewers can visit MovieAwards.MTV.com to vote to make winners of their favorite nominated films, movie moments and actors. Continuing its tradition for being one of the most shocking and atypical awards show on television, the "2010 MTV Movie Awards" will feature three all-new and outrageous categories that include "GLOBAL SUPERSTAR," "BEST SCARED-AS-S**T PERFORMANCE" and "BIGGEST BADASS STAR." For the first time EVER in "Movie Awards" history, voting will go international as fans worldwide will be able to vote for their favorite global stars in the "GLOBAL SUPERSTAR" category by visiting their local MTV websites.

Starbucks Coffee Company joins the "MTV Movie Awards" for the first time as this year's voting partner which includes the category of "BEST MOVIE." This one, special category will remain an ongoing battle as voting for favorite film of the year will remain open throughout the LIVE show. The "2010 MTV Movie Awards Widget" will let viewers at home be a part of the "MTV Movie Awards" like never before. The widget - sharable through Facebook, Twitter and MySpace - is embeddable anywhere and offers viewers unprecedented access to MTV content which includes video of MTV News coverage, trailers from nominated movies and TV spots for the awards show. Users can vote for their favorites in each category, access the MTV News RSS feed, follow Twitter activity related to the show, presenters and nominated movies and tweet directly from the widget with a pre-populated "MTV Movie Awards" hashtag. The widget also includes a sponsor section with footage from the "2009 Coke Insider's" coverage of last year's "MTV Movie Awards," which will be updated with new footage from this year's show.
