NEW YORK - September 30, 2010 - DIY Network's Blog Cabin, the first-ever home building television series, will return for a fifth season next year. Beginning in mid-January, DIY Network and DIYnetwork.com invite the world to help renovate an early 1900s waterfront home. Located on the Chesapeake Bay in eastern Virginia, just a short drive from Colonial Williamsburg and Washington, D.C., DIY Network's Blog Cabin asks viewers to vote and blog on the design features of the ultimate vacation home. Premiering in August 2011, this primetime series also offers a chance for one lucky viewer to win the cabin.
DIY Network's Blog Cabin sits on over 16 acres of outdoor-living paradise and is surrounded by great sailing, shopping and relaxing in one of the most charming communities in the country. Hosted by licensed contractor Matt Blashaw, this season features a team of DIY Network's expert hosts transforming a 3-bedroom, 1-bath early 1900s waterfront home into a modern-day retreat.
DIY Network's Blog Cabin is building off last year's success - over 3.8 million votes cast on DIYnetwork.com - by adding more voting features in 2011. DIY Network is asking voters to help choose up to 30 design elements for the renovations of the Blog Cabin's master bath, kitchen, great room, and front and back landscapes. Other new elements include two indoor webcams capturing more photos and video of DIY Network's expert hosts as they renovate each room and a Facebook connect providing real time votes. Back by popular demand will be the Blog Cabin VIP Getaway offering voters a chance to design and enter for an exclusive trip to visit the cabin.
DIY Network's Blog Cabin premiered in 2007 and was a huge success online and on-air. In its first four seasons, nearly 15 million votes on features ranging from the floor plan, roof, countertops, front door and more, were cast on DIY Network's companion website, DIYnetwork.com.
