MTV AND VICE GRANT VIEWERS RARE ACCESS TO STORIES AROUND THE WORLD IN NEWS-DRIVEN DOCUSERIES "THE VICE GUIDE TO EVERYTHING" PREMIERING DECEMBER 6, AT 11PM ET/PT

Globetrotting Gonzo Journalism Series Sends Vice Correspondents to Investigate the Dangerous, Absurd and Bizarre

NEW YORK, NY (November 17, 2010) - MTV gives viewers access to the world's most extraordinary and shocking stories across the globe in "The Vice Guide to Everything," a groundbreaking investigative series premiering Monday, December 6, 2010 at 11PM ET/PT. From searching for Al Qaeda in Yemen to testing out fashionable bulletproof jackets in Bogota, Vice correspondents take viewers on a globetrotting odyssey as they investigate real stories. The series features Vice founder Shane Smith, his fearless reporters Ryan Duffy and Thomas Morton, and guest appearances by Spike Jonze among others.

"Vice has always uncovered the most distinctive and provocative news stories in all genres," said Shannon Fitzgerald, MTV's Vice President and Head of East Coast Development. "Through the creative filter of the Vice brand, this series will take viewers on an exhilarating journey, revealing unique slivers of life from all corners of the world - bringing young people news that mainstream media often ignores."

"When Vice magazine first started, all we cared about was sex, drugs and rock'n roll. But as we started traveling around the world, we got more into politics, culture, fashion, art, and the environment - basically everything. And this is that - 'The Vice Guide To Everything,'" said the series' star and Vice founder Shane Smith. "It's a series about the absurdity of the modern condition: the most interesting people, news, sub-cultures and rituals on the planet. It's the stuff you don't get from the mainstream media - that you absolutely need to know - and you won't stop talking about it."

Shane Smith - Vice Founder

As one of the founders of Vice and a lead correspondent for its online video arm, Shane has traveled to North Korea, Iran, Liberia, Beirut, Sudan and other destinations in search of captivating stories. In addition to Vice, Shane has done short but meaningful professional stints as a currency arbitrageur in Eastern Europe, construction workers, musician, club promoter, screenplay writer and petty criminal.

Ryan Duffy - Vice Correspondent

Ryan Duffy started with Vice as an intern and in seven years has become the resident "beautiful baby boy." While on assignment in Colombia, Duffy once saw a man make love to a donkey for 30 minutes. Duffy also hates The Cure and Fugazi.

Thomas Morton aka "Baby Balls" - Vice Correspondent

Thomas Morton is the online editor of Vice and has been part of the family for six years. His nickname is "Baby Balls" because he is a small but fearless. He has crawled through the sewers of Bogota, immersed himself with underground gay leather daddies, and gone hunting for moonshine with the Gullah people of South Carolina.

Vice's Joseph Patel is the series Supervising Producer. The series was developed by Liz Gateley, SVP Series Development for MTV and Shannon Fitzgerald and George McTeague serve as executive producers for MTV.
