ENTERTAINMENT ONE LOCKS-UP MULTIPLE INTERNATIONAL SALES FOR HIT SERIES "THE WALKING DEAD"
Los Angeles/Toronto - December 7, 2010 - Leading independent studio/distributor Entertainment One (eOne) has concluded several significant international sales for the critically-acclaimed drama series, THE WALKING DEAD.
The company has sold free-to-air rights for the record-breaking series to Channel 5 in the UK. DBS Satellite has acquired the Pay TV rights for Israel, while Orange has picked up the Premium Pay rights for France. The eOne international sales team is currently in the process of wrapping up several other deals with high-profile broadcasters around the world. eOne has partnered with Fox International Channels to sell all Television, Digital and DVD rights outside of North America.
AMC and Fox International Channels (FIC) launched the ground-breaking drama series THE WALKING DEAD globally this fall, achieving stellar performance numbers worldwide and resulting in a Season 2 renewal by the second episode. The show's December 5th finale attracted four million viewers in the Adult 18-49 demo. With a series average of 3.5 million Adults 18-49, "The Walking Dead" is the most watched drama series in basic cable history for the demo.* The finale was the most-watched episode of the season, garnering a 4.1 HH rating and attracting six million total viewers. The final episode ranks first for Adults 18-49 delivery among basic cable for a drama series. THE WALKING DEAD Season 2 goes into production in 2011.
Starring Andrew Lincoln, THE WALKING DEAD tells the story of the weeks and months that follow a pandemic zombie apocalypse. County Sheriff Rick Grimes travels with his family and a small group of survivors, constantly in search of a safe and secure home. But the constant pressure of fighting off death on a daily basis takes a heavy toll, sending many to the lowest depths of human cruelty. As Rick struggles to keep his family alive, he will discover that the overwhelming fear of the survivors can be far more dangerous than the mindless walkers roaming the earth.
THE WALKING DEAD is AMC's first wholly-owned production. Earlier this year eOne signed an international distribution deal with Fox International Channels, the international network and partner on THE WALKING DEAD. 2010 has been a banner year for eOne Television in furthering its commitment to delivering high-profile programming to major networks and broadcasters around the world.
