ALPHAS (Syfy) - Ira Steven Behr ("The 4400") has been tapped as showrunner of the upcoming drama, about "a team of ordinary citizens whose brain anomalies imbue them with extraordinary mental and physical abilities." There he'll serve as an executive producer alongside Gail Berman, Lloyd Braun and co-creator Zak Penn. Jack Bender helmed the pilot and also executive produced.
UNTITLED JUDY SMITH PROJECT (ABC) - The Shonda Rhimes-penned hour has snagged a pilot order from the Alphabet, its first official pickup for 2011-12 season consideration. Said hour revolves around "the life and work of a professional fixer and her dysfunctional staff" and is based on the life of famed PR guru and crisis management consultant Judy Smith. ABC Studios, where Rhimes and her producing partner Betsy Beers's Shondaland banner is based, is producing. Smith herself will serve as a co-executive producer and a technical consultant.
