CBS NEWS ANNOUNCES MULTI-PLATFORM COVERAGE PLANS FOR THE ROYAL WEDDING OF PRINCE WILLIAM AND KATE MIDDLETON

CBS News' Coverage to be Lead by Katie Couric from London and Will Feature a Primetime Special, "The Royal Wedding: Modern Majesty," on Friday, April 29

Erica Hill Will Contribute to the Coverage and Co-Anchor "The Early Show" from London

CBS News today announced extensive coverage plans for the royal wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton across its broadcast, radio and online platforms. Led by CBS EVENING NEWS anchor and managing editor Katie Couric in London, CBS News will broadcast live coverage of the event on Friday, April 29 (5:00-9:00 AM, ET), which will feature reports from EARLY SHOW co-anchor Erica Hill outside Buckingham Palace. In addition, Couric will anchor THE ROYAL WEDDING: MODERN MAJESTY, a one-hour primetime special to be broadcast later that evening at 8:00 PM, ET on the CBS Television Network.

The coverage will also include the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC, THE EARLY SHOW and CBS SUNDAY MORNING. It will feature a behind-the-scenes tour of Westminster Abbey, where the wedding will take place and reports from correspondents Elizabeth Palmer, Troy Roberts, Michelle Miller and Ben Tracy. CBS News' Royals Contributor, Victoria Arbiter, will play a key role in the coverage leading up to, during and following the wedding. Also, CBS Newspath, CBSNews.com, CBS Radio News and a contingent of CBS News digital journalists will provide non-stop coverage and comprehensive reports throughout the week.

Leading up to the event, Couric will anchor the CBS EVENING NEWS WITH KATIE COURIC from London for three nights beginning Wednesday, April 27. Hill will co-anchor THE EARLY SHOW from the Tower of London beginning Monday, April 25. On Saturday, April 30, Hill will co-anchor the broadcast from outside Buckingham Palace.

CBS News' primetime special, THE ROYAL WEDDING: MODERN MAJESTY, will examine the historic significance of the day and this new young modern monarchy. The special, anchored by Couric, will also highlight all of the event's glamour � from the celebrity guests, to the fashion to the parties.

CBS SUNDAY MORNING, anchored by Charles Osgood, will look at some of the more quirky and colorful aspects of royal unions through the ages on Sunday, April 24, followed by correspondent Tracy Smith's "Sunday Journal" on events surrounding William and Kate's wedding, which will be broadcast Sunday, May 1.

CBS Newspath, the network's 24-hour affiliate news service, will offer complete coverage beginning Sunday, April 24 through Saturday, April 30. Correspondents Charlie D'Agata, Rita Nissan and Manuel Gallegus will report from above Westminster Abbey. After the ceremony, the reports will originate from outside Buckingham Palace, the site of the Royal Reception.

CBSNews.com will simulcast the network's live coverage and provide special reports with videos, essays and in-depth analysis of the events. Additionally, CBS Radio News will provide live coverage of the royal wedding anchored by national correspondent Dan Raviv, who will be joined by CBS News consultant and Vanity Fair editor Victoria Mather from London. The CBS Radio News royal wedding team in London will include correspondents Steve Futterman, Vicki Barker and reporter Larry Miller.
