New York, NY - April 7, 2011 - mtvU, MTV's 24-hour college network, is meshing movies and music together with the 3rd annual "mtvU Movies and Music Festival," a three-city Festival featuring the hottest performers and most talked about movies leading up to the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. Headliner Wiz Khalifa along with special guest performers, are partnering with mtvU and MTV to make the Festival part of Wiz Khalifa's "Green Carpet Tour," part of the Campus Consciousness tour series. Fans attending will get exclusive, advance looks at trailers of the summer's hottest blockbuster movies and opportunities to win tickets to the 2011 MTV Movie Awards. "Movies & Music Festival" will air on mtvU beginning May 16th and across MTV platforms the weeks of May 23rd and May 30th as part of the "MTV Movie Awards" theme week programming leading up to the awards show, which airs on Sunday, June 5th 2011 at 9PM (ET/PT).
Rostrum/Atlantic Records recording artist Wiz Khalifa will once again rock the stage for mtvU and MTV fans - this time as this year's Festival headliner. Wiz, who is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and is most widely known for his radio-friendly anthem "Black & Yellow," has had MTV's cross-platform support from day one. From a kick-ass MTV Spring Break performance to the top honor of "Woodie of the Year" a killer performance at the 2011 mtvU Woodie Awards, Wiz will be performing singles off his newly released album "Rolling Papers," which debuted at #2 on the Billboard Hot 200.
