"THE ELECTRIC BARBARELLAS" PREMIERES ON WEDNESDAY, MAY 4TH AT 11PM ET/PT
New series on MTV follows five young women on their quest to achieve musical stardom
New York, NY - April 27, 2010 - Five young women with big dreams and even bigger personalities share a common goal of making it in today's competitive music industry in MTV's newest series, "The Electric Barbarellas." As they work to achieve their goal of stardom, they must overcome the drama that is sure to come when a group of dynamic women live, work and play together. Debuting Wednesday, May 4 at 11pm ET/PT, immediately following "The Real World: Las Vegas," "The Electric Barbarellas" will document how this all-girl group came together to establish their music careers, pulling back the curtain on what makes them tick.
The audience will see how they strive for success, with emotions and infighting running rampant through the Hollywood Hills home they share as they prepare for the performance of their lives that could make their careers, or break them. Each week in the six episode arc, each member of the group will share their personal stories, as well as their brutally honest assessment each one has about the other. Through it all, they share a love of music, with each of the girls writing their own lyrics and melodies, as well as playing instruments on their first CD entitled, "Strange World."
Meet "The Electric Barbarellas:"
Heather - As the ring leader of the "Electric Barbarellas," Heather makes sure the other girls stay in line and at times, lays down the law so that they stay focused on their aspirations. Ever since she was a young girl, she dreamed of a career in music. Pulling the group together and managing all the drama has been more than a full time job for her. With her multiple talents as singer, songwriter, guitarist, key board player and producer, the group depends on Heather to keep them in check.
Chelsea - The self described "all-American" girl next door is the goodie-two-shoes of the group. Growing up, she would dream of becoming a pop star, practicing singing in her bedroom mirror and begging her mom to enroll her in singing and dance classes. Previously in two other all girl groups before joining the "Electric Barbarellas," she is passionate about her music career and is thankful she found the barbarellas who have become like family to her.
Gynger - The saucy southern belle is the practical joker and comedian of the group. With established song writing credits, she is also not afraid to crack a joke. Her wicked sense of humor and swagga add a lot of spice to the group, on and off the stage. Sometimes it gets her into trouble with the other girls, but she wouldn't have it any other way and is determined to make sure the "Electric Barbarellas" are a success.
Missy - The crazy, fun loving musician and bartender grew up in a conservative family until she discovered loud music and bad boys to bring her out of her shell and catapult her into exploring the world. She is a dancer, piano player and singer and since joining the "Electric Barbarellas," the group has been the most consistent thing in her life. Ultimately, she must choose to stay in the group or dedicate herself to her other rock band which she also leads. Which will she choose?
Raven - Growing up in Las Vegas, the exotic Raven overcame a tough childhood where her Dad abandoned her family and she was forced to help her mom run things at home. Her tough attitude and hot looks led her to a career in modeling, as well as a gig as an MMA ring girl. Her early success was self-earned, but something was still missing. She met Heather and not only has she found a group of fast friends, but a new career in music and dancing with the "Electric Barbarellas."
