A&E NETWORK DRIVES "REAL LIFE. DRAMA." BRAND WITH EXPANDED INDUSTRY-LEADING ORIGINAL PROGRAMMING SLATE

ELEVEN RETURNING HIT SERIES AND TEN NEW UNSCRIPTED SERIES LAUNCHING IN 2011

NETWORK GREENLIGHTS MULTI-NIGHT TELEVISION EVENT "COMA" FROM RIDLEY & TONY SCOTT

New York, NY - May 4, 2011 - After marking its best year ever in 2010, and kicking off 2011 with the best quarter in network history, A&E Network, the number 4 entertainment cable network in adults 25-54, is poised to continue its phenomenal ratings growth by expanding upon the already industry-leading slate of original programming - scripted and unscripted.

A&E is driving its 'Real Life. Drama' slate featuring eleven returning franchises and the launch of ten new series by the end of 2011 - series that build upon the network's established arenas, as well as create new genres and directions in original programming. This aggressive new slate will look to expand upon the perennial top-ten network's success and to populate new nights with original series that introduce viewers to worlds never-before-seen on television.

After wrapping up the first season of the new hit series "Storage Wars," which averaged 2.8 million viewers per episode and grew week after week peaking at 3.8 million, and in addition to the previously announced 20-episode second season pick-up, A&E has ordered eight episodes of the spin-off series "Storage Wars: Dallas." A&E is also picking up the new series "InLaws" (wt), "Ship Happens" (wt) and "Boar Hunters" (wt) as the first of ten new series planned for 2011. The network is also in development on more than 40 original series concepts, including projects from top producers like Ryan Seacrest ("Keeping up with The Kardashians"), Ryan Murphy ("Glee"), Mark Burnett ("Survivor") and Michael Davies ("Who Wants to Be a Millionaire"), among others.

In addition to a second season of the hit drama series "The Glades" launching on June 5, A&E has ordered "Coma," a scripted multi-night television event from executive producers Ridley and Tony Scott for Memorial Day 2012.

"Last year marked an unprecedented seventh consecutive year of growth at A&E, the longest growth streak in cable," said Bob DeBitetto, President and General Manager of A&E Network and BIO Channel. "Our new development slate remains true to our unique brand of authentic, dramatic and emotional storytelling, will ensure that we maintain our position as a premium entertainment network and drive our continued growth for the coming year."

Commitment to original programming targeting younger adult audiences remains paramount to A&E's success. Year-to-date, 77% of A&E's primetime lineup is original programming, significantly more than many top tier cable networks - FX (10%), USA (11%), TBS (21%) and TNT (31%). The upcoming slate of unscripted and scripted programming draws on the network's current schedule of real and dramatic programming and includes the following:

NONFICTION DEVELOPMENT:

"Hands On" (working title) pilot

"Glee" and "Nip-Tuck" producer Ryan Murphy, takes us inside the world of six models living together for a fly-on-the-wall look at how they live, work, and play. It's a glamorous world but the model lifespan is short and the clock is always ticking to hit it big while they can.

Greg Grunberg ("Heroes," "Alias") stars as a plus-sized detective in a world where plus-sized is a minus, San Diego. One of the best in his field, Big Mike can be a charging bull while serving a warrant or a gentle giant while rescuing a child from a fire. He can be profane, relentless and even deceitful when regulations stand in the way of justice, but he intimately understands both passion and human weakness, which serves as his greatest strength as a detective and his greatest challenge in his romantic life. Also stars Nicole Ari Parket, Ken Leung, Elizabeth Bogush and Anthony Ruivivar.

"Big Mike" is produced by Sony Pictures Television and executive produced by Doug Robinson for Happy Madison Productions. Ed Decter and John Strauss (There's Something About Mary) will executive produce and write the script.

Widowed only a year, he is a man in psychic repair but buries his pain behind his brave face, unassuming grin and dry wit. With the help of a young, attractive female cop, Longmire becomes reinvigorated about his job and is committed to run for re-election because he knows what everyone else in his community knows: he's the only man that can get the job done. Also stars Katee Sackhoff, Bailey Chase, Cassidy Freeman and Lou Diamond.

Each case pulls Longworth off the golf course and reluctantly into his element as one of the sharpest homicide detectives to wear a badge. In its first season, "The Glades" became the most-watched drama series in network history, averaging 3.1 million total viewers.
