Production Underway on Second Season of "Shake It Up"; Jeff Strauss Joins Rob Lotterstein as Executive Producer

Leveraging the success of the hit dance-driven series "Shake It Up," Disney Channel will launch its first-ever talent competition exclusively for kids and tweens, "Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off - 'Shake It Up' edition," where kids will help decide the winner. Beginning Friday, July 1, with the consent of a parent, kids will have the opportunity to show off their "mad dance skills" by uploading their own short dance video, up to 45 seconds long, for a chance to compete in the ultimate dance off to air on Disney Channel this October. The Grand Prize includes a performance in an episode of "Shake It Up."

Currently, viewers can shake it up and break it down at DisneyChannel.com/DanceStudio where online dance videos by "Shake It Up" choreographer Rosero McCoy and his assistant, Claude Racine, teach kids and families signature "Shake It Up" dance moves. New videos will be posted each Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Users can also sign up to receive a text alert when a new dance video is posted by texting the word "MOVES" to DISNEY (347639).

Production began this month on the second season of "Shake It Up," a comedy that has delivered record ratings since its 2010 premiere, and ranks as TV's No. 1 series among Kids 6-11 and Tweens. Jeff Strauss ("Reba," "All of Us," "Friends") has joined Rob Lotterstein ("The War at Home," "Ellen") as an executive-producer. Chris Thompson ("Laverne & Shirley," "Bosom Buddies") is the series creator.

Teen stars Bella Thorne and Zendaya's music video, "Watch Me," makes its world premiere on Friday, June 17 on Disney Channel. Walt Disney Records will release the digital single on Tuesday, June 21 on iTunes, Amazon.com and other online retailers. The Shake It Up: Break It Down CD + DVD Combo Pack includes "Watch Me" and the show's theme song, "Shake It Up," by Selena Gomez. The DVD features five instructional dance videos taught by the show's choreographer Rosero McCoy. The Shake It Up: Break It Down soundtrack and the Shake It Up: Break It Down CD + DVD Combo Pack will be available on Tuesday, July 12.

"Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off - 'Shake It Up' edition" schedule:

Friday, July 1 - Wednesday, August 3 - "Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off - 'Shake It Up' edition" commences. Kids age 8-16, with the consent of a parent, are invited to go to DisneyChannel.com/MakeYourMark to create and submit a dance video, up to 30-seconds long, with a maximum of five dancers, showing off their choreographed or free style dance moves. Kids are also invited to "like" their favorite videos and the most popular will be featured weekly on Disney Channel and DisneyChannel.com.

Thursday, July 7 - A five-city talent search kicks-off for "Make Your Mark: Ultimate Dance Off - 'Shake It Up' edition" at the Americana at Brand in Los Angeles, California, with a special guest appearance by Disney Channel stars.
