Los Angeles, CA - July 14, 2011 - The Academy of Television Arts & Sciences announced this morning the 63rd Annual Primetime Emmy(R) Award nominations, recognizing AMC with 29 nominations, the most for any basic cable network for the fourth year in a row, breaking the previous 26 nomination record for the network from 2010. "Mad Men," which reigns as the only television series in cable history to win the Emmy for Outstanding Drama three years in row (2008, 2009 and 2010), continues to be the most Emmy nominated drama on television. This year the series garnered 19 nominations making it the most recognized series on television.

AMC's "The Killing" received 6 nominations, while "The Walking Dead" received 3 nominations. The network series "Rubicon" garnered 1 nomination. The network's "Breaking Bad," which garnered wins for three years in a row for Bryan Cranston as Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series and Aaron Paul last year as Outstanding Supporting Actor, was not eligible for this year's competition based upon it not being telecast during the June 1, 2010-May 31, 2011 awards year. "Breaking Bad" will premiere its fourth season this Sunday, July 17 and be in full competition next year.

The tallies for nominations by show are:

"Mad Men" = 19 nominations

"The Killing" = 6 nominations

"The Walking Dead" = 3 nominations

"Rubicon" = 1 nomination

The following is a statement from AMC President and General Manager Charlie Collier:

"We thank the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for recognizing AMC and our amazing creative partners. It's exciting to be the network with the most nominations on basic cable.

About "Mad Men"

Set in 1960s New York, "Mad Men" is a sexy and provocative original drama that follows the lives of the ruthlessly competitive men and women of Madison Avenue advertising. Created and executive produced by Emmy and Golden Globe-winner Matthew Weiner, the show's cast includes: Golden Globe-winner Jon Hamm, January Jones, Elisabeth Moss, Vincent Kartheiser, Christina Hendricks, John Slattery, Jared Harris, Rich Sommer, Aaron Staton, Robert Morse and Kiernan Shipka. Lionsgate, the leading independent filmed entertainment studio, produces the series.

About "THE WALKING DEAD"

AMC's hit "The Walking Dead," which broke ratings records in its first season reaching more Adults 18-49 than any other show in the history of cable television, returns for its second season this October with 13-episodes. The series is based on the comic book series written by Robert Kirkman and tells the story of the months and years that follow after a zombie apocalypse. It follows a group of survivors, led by police officer Rick Grimes, played by Andrew Lincoln ("Teachers," Love Actually), who travel in search of a safe and secure home. Shot on location in Atlanta, the series also stars Jon Bernthal ("The Pacific," The Ghost Writer) as Shane Walsh, Sarah Wayne Callies ("Prison Break") as Lori Grimes, Laurie Holden ("The Shield," Stephen King's The Mist) as Andrea, Jeffrey DeMunn (Stephen King's The Mist, The Green Mile) as Dale, Norman Reedus ("The Conspirator") as Daryl, Steven Yeun ("The Big Bang Theory") as Glen, Emma Bell (The Bedford Diaries) as Amy and Chandler Riggs (Get Low) as Carl Grimes. Season two of "The Walking Dead" is executive produced by three-time Academy Award nominee Frank Darabont, Gale Anne Hurd, Kirkman, David Alpert and Glen Mazzara and AMC Studios.

About "THE KILLING"

The series heralded as "spellbinding," "excellent, absorbing and addictive" and "one of Spring's most compelling new series" hails from writer, executive producer and showrunner Veena Sud ("Cold Case"). "The Killing" tells the story of the murder of a teenage girl and the subsequent police investigation. Based on the hugely successful Danish television series "Forbrydelsen," the series is beautifully set in Seattle, which uniquely sets a "Nordic noir" tone and mood for the show. The 13- episode series premiered in April 2011 as the second highest original series premiere for AMC, with 2.7 million viewers tuning in, and is a gripping and compelling entre into the murder mystery genre, with rich characters and addictive, suspenseful plot twists that go beyond the formulaic procedural and had viewers obsessing over "Who killed Rosie Larsen?" Shot on location in Vancouver, "The Killing" is anchored by a breakout cast, including Mireille Enos ("Big Love") as Sarah Linden, the lead homicide detective investigating the death of Rosie Larsen; Billy Campbell ("Once and Again") as Darren Richmond, Seattle's City Council President running for Mayor; Joel Kinnaman (Snabba Cash) as Stephen Holder, an ex-narc cop who joins the homicide division in the investigation to find Rosie's killer; Michelle Forbes ("True Blood") as Rosie's mother, Mitch; and Brent Sexton (W., In the Valley of Elah) as Rosie's father, Stan. "The Killing is produced by Fox Television Studios.

About "RUBICON"

AMC's original drama, Rubicon, was a conspiracy thriller starring James Badge Dale (HBO's The Pacific) as an analyst at a New York City-based intelligence agency who was thrown into a story where nothing was as it appeared to be. Henry Bromell (Homicide: Life on the Street, Chicago Hope, Brotherhood) served as the showrunner, and the cast also included Oscar(R)-nominee Miranda Richardson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Sleepy Hollow), Dallas Roberts (Walk the Line, Flicka, The L Word), Jessica Collins (The Nine, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation), Christopher Evan Welch (Vicky Cristina Barcelona), Lauren Hodges (Law & Order) and Arliss Howard (Full Metal Jacket, Natural Born Killers, The Sandlot). Rubicon is produced by Warner Horizon Television.
