ABC Comedy "Modern Family" Captures Five Primetime Emmy Awards
Plus: the Disney/ABC Television Group touts its six other Emmy wins last night.

ABC'S HIT COMEDY "MODERN FAMILY" CAPTURES FIVE PRIMETIME EMMY AWARDS, THE MOST FOR ANY SERIES, INCLUDING OUTSTANDING COMEDY SERIES; FIRST-EVER EMMY AWARD WINS FOR JULIE BOWEN AND TY BURRELL FOR SUPPORTING ACTRESS AND ACTOR IN A COMEDY SERIES; A FIRST-EVER EMMY WIN FOR MICHAEL ALAN SPILLER FOR DIRECTING IN A COMEDY SERIES; WITH EXECUTIVE PRODUCERS/WRITERS STEVEN LEVITAN AND JEFFEREY RICHMAN TAKING THE PRIZE FOR WRITING FOR A COMEDY SERIES

Disney/ABC Television Group Totals 11 Emmy Awards

The ABC hit comedy series "Modern Family" took home Emmy gold, clinching more categories than any other series with five wins -- including the top comedy series prize -- at the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards presented last night at the Nokia Theater/L.A. Live, in Los Angeles. In addition to winning for Outstanding Comedy Series, "Modern Family's" Julie Bowen, Ty Burrell and director Michael Alan Spiller captured their first-ever Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress, Actor and Directing for a Comedy Series, respectively. Executive producers Steven Levitan and Jeffrey Richman took the Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series prize for the episode "Caught in the Act."

With the combination of wins at the Primetime ceremony and the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, Disney/ABC Television Group and ABC.com won a total of 11 awards.

Additional winners announced at the Creative Emmy ceremony on September 10, 2011 include: Outstanding Creative Achievement in Interactive Media for ABC.com's "Oscar Digital Experience"; Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, Loretta Devine as Adele Webber, "Grey's Anatomy"; Outstanding Hairstyling for a Multi-Camera Series or Special, "Dancing With The Stars"; Outstanding Short-Format Animated Program, "Disney Prep & Landing: Operation Secret Santa"; Outstanding Individual Achievement in Animation, Disney's Phineas And Ferb "Wizard Of Odd".
