CBS Launches "From Your Garage to Grammy(R) Live!" Online Contest, Which Gives Aspiring Bands the Chance of a Lifetime

Beginning Today, Bands Can Visit CBS.com/band to Submit Their Videos For a Chance to be Featured Online During GRAMMY(R) LIVE!

December 5, 2011 - CBS today launched "From Your Garage to GRAMMY(R) Live," a contest* that gives aspiring bands across the country the chance of a lifetime - to be featured during GRAMMY(R) LIVE, a three-day online live streaming event starting Feb. 10, 2012, covering all the best GRAMMY-related events.

Beginning today, Dec. 5, 2011 through Jan. 2, 2012, bands can go to CBS.com/band to upload a video, which can be voted on by music fans from around the world. Submissions will be initially divided into the following regions: Pacific, Mountain, Midwest, Middle Atlantic, New England, South Atlantic and South. The voting will begin on Jan. 3, 2012 and close Jan. 16, 2012. From the uploaded bands, a finalist will be picked from each region for the second round of voting, which will start Jan. 17, 2012 and close Jan. 23, 2012. A final winner will be chosen on Jan. 24, 2012.

"In the spirit of music's biggest night, we want to give locally known musicians a national platform that would allow them to be discovered by the music industry and fans across the country," said Jack Sussman, Executive Vice President, Specials, Music and Live Events, CBS Entertainment. "The music business is a notoriously difficult industry to succeed in, so this contest is a way for us to help give a talented, undiscovered band the chance to break through and potentially become music's next big act."

GRAMMY(R) Live will feature three days of live coverage of the VIP events leading up to Music's Biggest Night(R), accompanied by exclusive, pre-taped and archived GRAMMY moments. The GRAMMY Live real-time, online broadcast will include live video, photos, blogging, tweets and retweets, official news reports and personalized updates from four mobile GRAMMY hosts. The three-day online event includes exclusive GRAMMY cams located at GRAMMY Week events such as MusiCares Person of the Year, Special Merit Awards & Nominees Reception, Pre-GRAMMY Gala and Salute to Industry Icon, and the 54th ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS Pre-Telecast including red-carpet and behind-the-scenes telecast.
