By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- Animal Planet has added yet another series to its winter lineup: "Snake Man of Appalachia."

The six-episode series, premiering Thursday, January 12 at 9:00/8:00c, follows the lives of the Shorts, which the network describes as "an extraordinary Appalachian family with deep roots in the serpent-handling religion." Dan Sexton Media is behind the project.

Said effort joins the previously announced newcomers "American Stuffers" (premieres Thursday, January 5 at 10:00/9:00c) and "Gator Boys" (Sunday, January 8 at 9:00/8:00c).

Also on tap this winter are returning series "Infested!" and "Confessions: Animal Hoarding" (Fridays at 9:00/8:00c beginning December 30); "My Cat from Hell," "Pit Boss" and "Pit Bulls & Parolees" (Saturdays at 8:00/7:00c beginning January 7); and "Finding Bigfoot" (Sundays at 10:00/9:00c beginning January 1).
