AMERICAN DREAM (NBC, New!) - Writer Paul Kolsby ("Spread"), director Steve Shainberg ("Secretary") and producer Andrew Lazar ("I Love You Phillip Morris") are set to team with actress/producer Mariska Hargitay ("Law & Order: SVU") for a potential dramedy about the inner workings of reality series. Said hour, which Kolsby penned on spec, would revolve around "the symbiotic relationship between network executives and the 'talent' in a reality television series." Shainberg is attached to direct the project, which he'll executive produce alongside Kolsby, Lazar and Hargitay. No studio was indicated. (Deadline.com)

ANIMAL KINGDOM (Showtime, New!) - David Michod's 2010 Australian feature - about a 17-year old "as he navigates his survival amongst an explosive criminal family and the detective who thinks he can save him" - is being developed as a TV series at the pay channel by John Wells Productions ("Shameless") and Warner Bros. Television. Jonathan Lisco is on board to pen the adaptation with Michod, Wells, Andrew Stearn and Liz Watts also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)

RAY DONOVAN (Showtime) - Allen Coulter ("Damages") has signed on to direct the Liev Schreiber-led drama pilot, about Hollywood's best professional "fixer," the one called in to solve the complicated, confidential and controversial problems of the city's elite. He'll work from a script by Ann Biderman, who's executive producing alongside Mark Gordon and Bryan Zuriff. (Deadline.com)
