New "Sunday Night Baseball" Team to Call Four Games in Five Days to Open Season

ESPN's new Sunday Night Baseball team - Dan Shulman, Orel Hershiser, Terry Francona and reporter Buster Olney - will open the 2012 MLB season by calling four games in five days, beginning with MLB Opening Night - defending Champion Cardinals at new-look Marlins - on Wednesday, April 4, at 7 p.m. ET.

On Thursday, April 5, Terry Francona will call his former team's season-opener, when the Boston Red Sox visit the Detroit Tigers. The matchup is scheduled to feature reigning American League MVP and Cy Young winner Justin Verlander against Red Sox ace Jon Lester. The Sunday Night team will provide commentary, beginning at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.

The Sunday Night crew will be back in the booth on Friday, April 6, for Albert Pujols' debut with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim as they host the Kansas City Royals. Coverage will begin at 10 p.m. on ESPN2.

Shulman, Hershiser, Francona and Olney will have one day of rest before calling the first Sunday Night Baseball telecast of the season - Chicago White Sox at Texas Rangers - on Sunday, April 8, at 8 p.m. on ESPN. All MLB games on ESPN will be available via the WatchESPN app.
