THE LEFTOVERS (HBO, New!) - "Lost" co-creator Damon Lindelof is spearheading a small screen take on Tom Perrotta's 2011 book of the same name, which asks what would happen if The Rapture actually took place and millions of people just disappeared from the Earth. Stephen King heralded the novel in the New York Times Book Review as "the best 'Twilight Zone' episode you never saw." Lindelof will co-write the script to the potential drama alongside Perrotta and executive produce via his overall deal with Warner Bros. Television. Ron Yerxa and Albert Berger also serve as executive producers. (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - "Bones" executive producer Stephen Nathan has inked a two-year overall deal - with an option for a third - with the show's producer, 20th Century Fox Television (Deadline.com); "Saved" creator David Manson has been tapped as the showrunner of Richard LaGravenese and Tony Goldwyn's untitled legal thriller pilot for AMC while Andrew Sugarman will serve as a co-executive producer (Deadline.com); former "Wilfred" co-executive producers Sivert Glarum and Michael Jamin have been tapped to supervise IFC's upcoming Marc Maron-led comedy "Maron" (Deadline.com); TNT is on track to order its period drama pilot "L.A. Noir" to series (Deadline.com); and Jose Zuniga will guest as "a vicious cocaine smuggler" on episode 11 of "Burn Notice" this season (TVLine.com).
