DISCOVERY NETWORKS INTERNATIONAL LAUNCHES NEW MEDICAL ANOMALY SERIES "BODY INVADERS"

(Silver Spring, MD) - Discovery Networks International (DNI) today announced a new 6x60 series on medical mysteries entitled BODY INVADERS, produced by Twofour. The series explores some of the most incredible stories involving a wide array of foreign objects that people have found ingested or pierced into people's bodies and examines the extraordinary journeys of detection of how the foreign objects were discovered in their bodies, and the ground breaking techniques used by medical teams to remove them. BODY INVADERS will premiere on Discovery Channel across Europe, Middle-East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America as well as on Discovery Fit & Health (as I WAS IMPALED) in the United States beginning in the Fall 2012.

"What's great about BODY INVADERS is that it will truly amaze our viewers," said Elizabeth McIntyre, Vice President of Production & Development for Factual programming for DNI, who commissioned the series. "We worked with various medical experts and doctors to help understand the science behind these stories. Through their research, we were able to ensure that our viewers were seeing both factual and accurate testimonials of some of the most amazing stories of survival out there."

For many stories, the revelation of what exactly is inside the patient - and how it got there - is a mystery until the last possible moment. Using testimony, actuality and CGI reconstruction, BODY INVADERS will delve deep into the medical detective work that led to its discovery, looking at just how these dangerous and bizarre objects entered the body, how they affected the organs around them, influenced behavior and why they were often inches away from being fatal.

BODY INVADERS is produced for Discovery Networks International by Twofour. For Discovery Networks International, Helen Hawken is executive producer. For Twofour, the executive producer is Bridget Sneyd.
