NASHVILLE - September 25, 2012 - English folk rock quartet Mumford & Sons will share the stage with Country Music Hall of Fame member Emmylou Harris when CMT presents an all-new episode of CMT CROSSROADS. Meeting and collaborating for the first time on the CMT CROSSROADS stage in Nashville, Mumford & Sons and Harris will perform acclaimed Harris favorites "The Road" and "Orphan Girl" and the group's "Awake My Soul," "The Cave" and more from their new release, Babel. CMT CROSSROADS: MUMFORD & SONS AND EMMYLOU HARRIS premieres Thursday, September 27 at 9:00 p.m., ET/PT.
Mumford & Sons gained worldwide acclaim with the release of the 2010 album Sigh No More, which contained the hit Grammy-nominated singles "Little Lion Man" and "The Cave." The group also picked up Americana Music Association Award nominations for Group of the Year and New/Emerging Artist in 2011. Mumford & Sons' new album Babel via Glassnote is in stores now.
This is the second time Harris has taken the stage for CMT CROSSROADS since collaborating with Dave Matthews in 2003. Over the course of her four-decades-plus musical career, Grammy winner Harris has secured her place as a highly influential artist across numerous genres. Her work has contributed to the birth and growth of country-rock, Americana, and bluegrass among others. In addition to her adventurous solo output, she remains a highly sought after collaborator. Her latest album is the Jay Joyce-produced Hard Bargain, from 2011.
Mumford & Sons and Emmylou Harris join an elite group of performers who have taped CMT CROSSROADS, the critically-acclaimed series that pairs country music stars with popular artists from other genres - pop, rock, R&B - to play together, swap stories, and share their common love of music.
