DISCOVERY NETWORKS INTERNATIONAL UNVEILS NEW MEDICAL DOCUMENTARY SERIES, "BODY BIZARRE"

(Silver Spring, MD and London) - Discovery Networks International (DNI) today announced BODY BIZARRE, an all-new six-part series that travels the globe in search of extraordinary individuals living with mysterious medical anomalies that have puzzled the best doctors and experts in the world. Produced in partnership with Zig Zag Productions and Barcroft Productions, and commissioned by Julian Bellamy, Creative Director and Head of Production and Development - DNI, BODY BIZARRE is set to air beginning Q2 2013 on Discovery Channel across Asia-Pacific, Latin America and Central and Eastern Europe, Middle East and Africa, and on TLC and other female flagship networks in Western Europe.

"BODY BIZARRE provides a heartfelt and relatable glimpse into life outside the norm, tapping into our audience's intrinsic curiosity about people living with unbelievable medical conditions," said Jon Sechrist, Vice President, Lifestyle Production and Development, DNI. "Zig Zag Productions and Barcroft Productions have been tremendous partners in this series, and we're proud to share the final product with viewers around the world."

Danny Fenton, CEO of Zig Zag Productions said: "BODY BIZARRE is a unique show. Created in a magazine style format it features several sensitively handled medical anomaly stories per hour from all around the world. It's the product of a very positive collaboration with Barcroft Productions and we're delighted to be announcing the show's acquisition 12 months on from launching the show at last year's Realscreen."

Sam Barcroft, Creative Director of Barcroft Productions said: "BODY BIZARRE tells incredible human stories from across the planet in a fresh and thoughtful way. It's an accessible and fast-paced format, tailored towards its globally diverse audience."

Emotionally-charged and stunning, each 60 minute episode of BODY BIZARRE uncovers the real, human stories of extraordinary survival - behind the headlines. From Brazil's footless football-playing boy to the world's oldest mother in Romania, each episode contains a rich and varied look into life in the still-unknown realm. BODY BIZARRE also provides viewers with unique insight into the conditions faced by these individuals, enriched by deeply personal interviews as well as CGI footage and scientific factoids.

BODY BIZARRE is jointly produced for DNI by Zig Zag Productions and Barcroft Productions. For DNI, Jon Sechrist is executive producer; for Zig Zag Productions, Danny Fenton is executive producer and for Barcroft Productions, Sam Barcroft is executive producer.
