SHOWTIME(R) HITS A HIGH NOTE THIS FEBRUARY WITH NEW MUSIC DOCUMENTARIES
MUMFORD & SONS: THE ROAD TO RED ROCKS And GRAMMY(R)Nominated BIG EASY EXPRESS
Will Premiere February 1st and 8th Exclusively On SHOWTIME
LOS ANGELES, CA - (January 28, 2013) - SHOWTIME amps up its musical slate this winter with the acquisition of two new documentaries, MUMFORD & SONS: THE ROAD TO RED ROCKS, which will premiere Friday, February 1 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT, and BIG EASY EXPRESS, premiering the following Friday, February 8 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT during GRAMMY(R) weekend.
In its worldwide television debut, MUMFORD & SONS: THE ROAD TO RED ROCKS offers a heartfelt compilation of live footage from two sold-out concerts at the striking Red Rocks amphitheater in Colorado. In addition to the stunning footage, this documentary contains exclusive interviews with the band members and a behind-the-scenes look at their life on the road. The documentary was directed and shot by up-and-coming directing duo and longtime friends of the band, FRED & NICK. This timely film captures the distinctive folk-rock quality of Britain's acclaimed Mumford & Sons, one of the top selling groups of 2012. The band is nominated for six GRAMMYs(R) and will perform as part of THE 55TH ANNUAL GRAMMY AWARDS(R) broadcast on February 10 at 8:00 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
BIG EASY EXPRESS documents a cinematic musical journey with three bands, six cities, one train and thousands of miles of track. Directed by renowned filmmaker Emmett Malloy (THE WHITE STRIPES UNDER GREAT WHITE NORTHERN LIGHTS), this documentary is a music lover's dream - part road movie, part concert film. Indie folk heroes Edward Sharpe and The Magnetic Zeros, Tennessee's Old Crow Medicine Show and Mumford & Sons climb aboard a beautiful vintage train in California, setting out for New Orleans, Louisiana on a "tour of dreams". BIG EASY EXPRESS has been nominated for a GRAMMY(R) Award for Best Long Form Music Video.
Stay tuned on February 8th for a double dose of music as MUMFORD & SONS: THE ROAD TO RED ROCKS will encore directly after the worldwide broadcast premiere of BIG EASY EXPRESS.
