MOUNTAIN MEN

New Season Premieres Sunday, June 9 at 9pm ET

New York, May 9, 2013 - In isolated Yaak Valley in northwest Montana, Tom Oar and his wife Nancy are racing against time to gather enough wood and food to see them through the winter. Hunting season ends in just a few short days. But hunting will have to wait; wildfires are speeding their way and their first priority is protecting their home. Living in a tinderbox cabin in the wilderness, their survival depends on fending off one life-threatening act of nature after the next - from raging firestorms and brutal, seven-month-long winters to marauding grizzly bears and deadly wolves.

For the fearless few who choose to forge a life of their own in the unforgiving wilds, every day brings a constant onslaught of new danger. Season 2 of MOUNTAIN MEN, premiering Sunday, June 9 at 9pm ET on HISTORY, follows the real-life challenges of living off the land, far from civilization, where it takes survival skills and sheer cunning just to stay fed, clothed...and alive.

Season 2 picks up where Tom and the others left off last season. In the frozen wilds of Alaska's Great Northern Range, bush pilot and fur trapper Marty Meierotto hopes to rebound from a disappointing trapping season, but a late-arriving winter threatens to derail him before he can even get started. In North Carolina's Blue Ridge Mountains, Eustace Conway has taken a hefty cash loan to save his land from a government lien. He'll do whatever it takes to repay the loan even as he struggles to keep trespassers and their chain saws at bay.

This season also introduces four new MOUNTAIN MEN. Rich Lewis makes his living in southwest Montana in pursuit of one of North America's deadliest predators, the mountain lion. Ranchers depend on him and his well-trained hounds to keep the cats away from their livestock and off their land, and he is hell-bent on running off one cat in particular - Three-Toes, the lion that killed his best dog. George Michaud, a trapper devoted to Native American hunting and trapping techniques, relies on his dogsled team to navigate the treacherous terrain of Idaho's Grand Tetons. Rounding out the cast are Charlie Tucker, an axman-turned-mountain man who leaves the only job he's ever known to pursue his dream of trapping fur full-time in the forests of northern Maine; and Jason Hawk, a hunter and blacksmith who is committed to a thoroughly self-sufficient life and will stop at nothing to protect his family in the harsh Arizona desert.

MOUNTAIN MEN is produced for HISTORY by Warm Springs Productions. Russ McCarroll is Executive Producer for HISTORY. Executive Producers for Warm Springs are Marc Pierce and Chris Richardson.
