TLC's "The Town That Caught Tourette's?" Premieres Wednesday, May 22 at 10 PM ET/PT
In the fall of 2011, a few teenage girls from the small town of Le Roy, NY began developing tics and twitches that closely resembled Tourrette's syndrome. In a matter of months, the number rose to more than a dozen. Coincidentally, nearly all of the girls attended the same high school. Outraged and desperate for answers, the families brought their stories to national news outlets. The result: widespread media frenzy that captured the attention of the country.
TLC's THE TOWN THAT CAUGHT TOURETTE'S?, airing Wednesday, May 22 at 10 PM ET/PT, is a documentary that will explore the lives of the girls who suffered and those who are still affected today. Exploring different causes like infections, environmental influences, conversion disorder and even Lyme disease, the one-hour special aims to unearth the factors that contributed to this bizarre mystery.
