THE FAMILY GUIDE (NBC/Universal; W: D.J. Nash; D: David Schwimmer) - Jenna Elfman ("1600 Penn") is in talks to join the cast of the midseason comedy, about Henry (Eli Baker), a 14-year-old boy who watches his family - blind father Mel (J.K. Simmons), immature mom Joyce, rebellious older sister Katie (Ava Deluca-Verley) and their dog Elvis - come closer together post-divorce. She'd succeed Parker Posey, who exited the series shortly after its pickup. Lance Lim also stars while Jason Bateman serves as the show's narrator. (TVLine.com)


QUARRY (Cinemax; W: Graham Gordy & Michael D. Fuller; D: John Hillcoat) - Skipp Sudduth ("The Good Wife") has boarded the drama pilot, about "a Marine sniper (Logan Marshall-Green) who returns home from Vietnam in 1973 to find that he's been shunned by those he loves and demonized in public." He'll play Lloyd, the father to Logan Marshall Green's title character who "is coarse and a veteran like Quarry who lives with a woman who completely disagrees with the Vietnam war and isn't supportive of his son." Noah Taylor also stars. (THR.com)


AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Nicki Minaj and Mariah Carey have both confirmed their exits from "American Idol" (@Nicki Minaj, @PMK_BNC); "Revenge" co-stars Ashley Madekwe and Connor Paolo won't be back for season three as the former's option wasn't picked up while the latter was written out (Deadline.com); Sam Page and Molly Parker have both joined the cast of "House of Cards" in unspecified roles (TVLine.com); Eli Attie has inked a two-year overall deal with 20th Century Fox Television where he'll join the studio's "Mind Games" as a co-executive producer (Deadline.com);
