Sundance Channel's "Top of the Lake" Wins for Cinematography at the 2013 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy(R) Awards

SUNDANCE CHANNEL'S "TOP OF THE LAKE" WINS FOR CINEMATOGRAPHY AT THE 2013 PRIMETIME CREATIVE ARTS EMMY(R) AWARDS

LOS ANGELES, September 16, 2013 - Sundance Channel's original miniseries "Top of the Lake" received top honors tonight at the 2013 Primetime Creative Arts Emmy(R) Awards when Adam Arkapaw received the Emmy for Outstanding Cinematography for a Miniseries or a Movie. The honors were handed out by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences at the NOKIA Theatre L.A. in Los Angeles. This marks the first Primetime win for Sundance Channel.

"Sundance Channel attempts to push the boundaries of storytelling with provocative narratives brought to life by exquisite production, and we are extremely honored that the Academy has acknowledged Adam Arkapaw's fine work" said Sarah Barnett, Sundance Channel President and GM.

Additionally, Sundance Channel received a record ten Primetime Emmy(R) nominations for its miniseries "Top of the Lake" and "Restless," including a category nomination for "Top of the Lake" for Outstanding Miniseries or Movie and acting nominations for Elisabeth Moss, Peter Mullan and Charlotte Rampling. Jane Campion and Garth Davis were nominated for Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries or a Movie for "Top of the Lake." Campion and Gerard Lee were nominated for Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries or a movie for "Top of the Lake".

About "Top of the Lake"

Set in the remote mountains of New Zealand, "Top of the Lake" is the network's original miniseries about the mysterious disappearance of a 12-year-old pregnant girl. The miniseries was co-directed by Oscar(R) winner Jane Campion and Garth Davis and co-writer by Campion and Gerard Lee. "Top of the Lake" is produced by Academy Award(R) winners Emile Sherman and Iain Canning (The King's Speech, Shame) of See-Saw Films, and Philippa Campbell (Black Sheep) of Escapade Pictures. The series stars Elisabeth Moss ("Mad Men," On the Road); Oscar(R) winner Holly Hunter, BAFTA(R) nominee Peter Mullan (War Horse, Trainspotting), AFI Award(R) winning actor David Wenham (The Lord of the Rings, Australia), Lucy Lawless ("Xena: Warrior Princess," "Battlestar Galactica," "Spartacus: Vengeance") and Jacqueline Joe as Tiu. About "Restless"

An enthralling story of wartime espionage, love and betrayal, "Restless" depicts the thrilling story of a daughter who discovers that her mother was recruited as a spy during World War II and lifts the lid on one of the last secrets of World War II. The miniseries was produced by Emmy(R) Award winner Hilary Bevan Jones (State of Play, The Girl in the Café) under her shingle Endor Productions, directed by Edward Hall, and features a teleplay written by Boyd. The two compelling installments feature a world-renowned cast including Hayley Atwell ("Any Human Heart," Captain America) Rufus Sewell ("Pillars of the Earth," "Zen"), Michelle Dockery ("Downton Abbey", Anna Karenina), Michael Gambon ("Page Eight," Luck) and Charlotte Rampling (Melancholia, The Eye of the Storm). Filming took place in the summer of 2012 in South Africa and the UK.
