Starz Receives a Network Record of Six Golden Globe(R) Award Nominations Including Two for Best Miniseries

Beverly Hills, Calif., December 12, 2013 - STARZ miniseries were nominated for a network record six Golden Globe(R) nominations by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association this morning at the 71th Annual Golden Globe Awards nomination ceremony at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. The network garnered two nominations in the Best Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television Category for its Original Miniseries, "The White Queen" and "Dancing on the Edge."

This marks the first Golden Globe nomination for Rebecca Ferguson for her performance in "The White Queen" in the Best Actress in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television category. Chiwetel Ejiofor received duel nominations for Best Actor in a Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television for "Dancing on the Edge" and Best Actor Motion Picture - Drama for 12 Years a Slave. Veterans Janet McTeer, Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television for "The White Queen" and Jacqueline Bisset, Best Supporting Actress in a Series, Miniseries or Motion Picture Made for Television for "Dancing on the Edge" have both been recognized by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for past performances.

"The White Queen" is a ten-part limited series is a BBC co-production, adapted from The New York Times best-selling historical novel series "The Cousins' War" by Philippa Gregory. "The White Queen" is produced by Company Pictures and adapted by acclaimed writer Emma Frost. The series is directed by James Kent, Jamie Payne and Colin Teague with Gina Cronk serving as producer. Executive Producers include John Griffin, George Faber, Charles Pattinson for Company Pictures, Philippa Gregory, Eurydice Gysel for Czar Television, Polly Hill for the BBC and Colin Callender for Playground Entertainment on behalf of Starz.

"Dancing on the Edge" was filmed on location in London and Birmingham on a moving set over four months and was executive produced by an acclaimed production team including: James D. Stern, Douglas E. Hansen and Colin Callender ("The White Queen," "Magic City"); Alison Owen (Jane Eyre, The Men Who Stare at Goats), Paul Trijbits (Saving Mr. Banks, Jane Eyre) and Poliakoff; Dan Lawson and Peter Hampden. The miniseries was produced by Nicky Kentish Barnes (Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, Match Point) and Faye Ward (Toast, Jane Eyre) for Ruby Film and Television.
