LISA CORNWELL JOINS GOLF CHANNEL ON-AIR TEAM

ORLANDO, Fla. (Jan. 6, 2014) - Broadcaster Lisa Cornwell has joined Golf Channel's broadcast team, and will primarily serve as an anchor for the network's signature news show, GOLF CENTRAL.

Cornwell brings to Golf Channel considerable experience in television and golf. Her on-air career started in local television, reporting for NBC, CBS and ABC affiliate stations in Mississippi, Tennessee and Ohio. She also has served as a studio host, reporter and play-by-play announcer for the Big Ten Network. Rising from her love of college sports, Cornwell most recently hosted a college football show titled "SEC Press Pass," a syndicated show she founded in 2011.

An accomplished athlete, Cornwell pursued competitive golf as a junior and hoped to parlay her accolades into a professional career. She was a three-time All-American junior golfer, a four-time Arkansas Women's State Amateur Champion - winning her first at a record age of 14 - the 1992 Arkansas Female Athlete of the Year, and won more than 30-plus tournaments nationwide during her playing years. She also played collegiate golf for Southern Methodist University and the University of Arkansas.

Golf not only has served as a conduit to satisfy Cornwell's competitive spirit, it also has provided her with an avenue to meet some interesting people. Former college football coach and current ESPN analyst Lou Holtz gave her a high-five when she made her first birdie at 8 years old. Her playing partners have included other great names in college football, including Frank Broyles and Darrel Royal, as well as Tiger Woods on the junior golf circuit. And when playing with her cousin - the 42nd President of the United States Bill Clinton - she plays to win.

An Arkansas native, Cornwell relocated to Orlando, Fla.
