By The Futon Critic Staff (TFC)

LOS ANGELES (thefutoncritic.com) -- The latest development news, culled from recent wire reports:

Looking to keep track of all the various projects in development? Click here to visit our signature "Devwatch" section. There visitors can view our listings by network, genre, studio and even development stage (ordered to pilot, cast-contingent, script, etc.). It's updated every day!

AMERICAN CRIME (ABC/ABC Studios; W: John Ridley; D: TBA) - John Ridley's drama - which "centers on a racially charged murder and the subsequent trial in California's Central Valley as seen through the personal lives of the players involved" - has been ordered to pilot by the Alphabet. ABC Studios is behind the hour, with Michael McDonald also serving as an executive producer. (Deadline.com)

FATRICK (FOX/20th; W: Corey Nickerson & Nahnatchka Khan; D: Jim Rash & Nat Faxon) - Zach Cregger ("Guys with Kids") has booked the title role on the comedy pilot, about Patrick, a 30-something moving man and formerly fat kid who is forced to face the damage caused by years of being Fatrick: a chubby little kid just trying to survive. Dante Hoagland, Lucy Rust, Marcia Cross and Ray Ford also star. (TVLine.com)

TAXI 22 (CBS/CTS; W: ; D: TBA) - The Eye has given a pilot order to a long-in-the-works import of the French Canadian single-camera comedy, about "a misanthropic and politically incorrect NYC cab driver in the vein of Archie Bunker." Originally set up at HBO in 2010 with the late James Gandolfini executive producing, the project subsequently found its way to CBS last summer. Tad Quill penned the script, succeeding such auspices as Brett C. Leonard, Dave Flebotte and Kenneth Lonergan. CBS Television Studios is behind the half-hour with Dennis Erdman, Clark Peterson, Patrick Huard, Francois Flamand, Nancy Sanders and Mark Armstrong also serving as executive producers. (Deadline.com)

UNTITLED EVE PROJECT (ABC, New!) - Actress-rapper Eve (UPN's "Eve") is set to topline a potential multi-camera comedy at the network billed as an interracial romantic comedy. Kapital Entertainment's Aaron Kaplan is executive producing the ABC Studios-based half-hour alongside Eve. The search is underway for a writer. (Deadline.com)

YOUNGER (TV Land; W: Darren Star; D: TBA) - Hilary Duff is set to star opposite Sutton Foster in the comedy pilot, about Liza (Foster), a suddenly-single New Jersey housewife and mother in her early 40s who, unable to restart her career, decides to lie about her age and successfully passes herself off as a twentysomething. She'll play Kelsey, "a smart ambitious 20-something who welcomes Liza to the publishing firm, treats her as a contemporary and makes a concerted effort to integrate her into her social life, having no idea that Liza is a decade older." Said effort is based on the novel by Pamela Redmond Satran (Deadline.com)

AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Showtime has quietly renewed "Web Therapy" for a fourth season of 10 episodes (THR.com); Ignacio Serricchio will guest on "Bones" as "a very prominent forensic anthropologist from Cuba who comes to the U.S. seeking asylum" (TVLine.com); "Welcome to the Family" creator Mike Sikowitz has inked a three-year, seven-figure overall deal with Sony Pictures Television (Deadline.com); Karine Vanasse's Margaux LeMarchal has been upped to series regular on a potential fourth season of "Revenge" (Deadline.com);

Anne Dudek and Keith David are bound for "Grimm" as "a bright young archeology professor excited to begin studying a 3,000-year-old sarcophagus" and "the ringmaster for a unique traveling carnival," respectively (THR.com); Jane Kaczmarek will recur on USA's upcoming comedy "Playing House" as Emma's (Jessica St. Clair) "perfectly coiffed and extremely opinionated mother" (THR.com); and Kathy Bates will drop by "Mike & Molly" as Molly's new pal, Kay McKinnon, in an upcoming episode (TVGuide.com).
