THE MCCARTHYS (CBS/Sony; W: Brian Gallivan; D: TBA) - Tyler Ritter, older brother of fellow actor Jason Ritter, has booked the lead role on the multi-camera comedy pilot, about a sports-crazed Irish-Catholic family that shares a three decker house in Boston and the one member, Ronny, "whose greatest sin is not his sexuality but his desire to spend less time with his family." He's set as the aforementioned Ritter, a role played by Jake Lacy in the original incarnation. Jack McGee, Jimmy Dunn, Joey McIntyre, Kelen Coleman and Laurie Metcalf also star. (Deadline.com)
RED BAND SOCIETY (FOX/ABC Studios; W: Margaret Nagle; D: TBA) - Margaret Nagle's drama, based on the Spanish series "Polseres Vermelles," has scored "a pilot-type production order plus additional backup scripts." Said effort's logline is as follows: "A group of teenagers meet as patients in the children's wing of a hospital and become unlikely allies and friends in this comedic young soap. It represents a completely inspired way into young soap, a comedic one-hour, a hospital show, and a (surrogate) family drama." Steven Spielberg, Justin Falvey, Darryl Frank and Sergio Aguero are also among the executive producers with Carlos and Julio Fernandez co-executive producing. (Deadline.com, EW.com)
RUNNER (A.K.A. THE END) (FOX/20th; W: Michael Cooney; D: Peter Horton) - Michael Cooney's drama at the network has received "an off-cycle commitment for further investment towards series production." The logline for the project is as follows: "We find our way into the traditionally masculine world of Arms Dealing through the unexpected lens of a woman. After a simple twist of fate, Lauren Marks learns her husband is not the person she believed him to be. Faced with the harsh reality that her life is forever changed, she goes on a truth seeking journey that entrenches her in a US/Mexican war over weapons and terrorism." Ian Sander and Kim Moses of Sander/Moses Productions are also behind hour, which is based on the Turkish series "Son". (Deadline.com, EW.com)
