ONE PERCENT (Starz, New!) - Alejandro Gonzalez Iñárritu (Birdman) has set up his upcoming drama - about "a downtrodden farmer as he struggles to hold onto his family and his farm, when a bizarre twist of fate becomes a life-changing secret that will either save them or ruin them" - at Starz with a 10-episode order. Ed Helms, Hilary Swank and Ed Harris are already attached to star in the Media Rights Capital-based project, which was created and written by Iñárritu, Alexander Dinelaris Jr., Nicolás Giacobone and Armando Bo. Helms will play Alfred Murphy, "who is struggling professionally and personally to keep the family business afloat"; Swank is in final negotiations to play his wife, Laura Murphy; with Harris as the family patriarch, Nathaniel Cobb. They'll likewise executive produce with Iñárritu will directing the first two episodes. (Deadline.com)
AND IN OTHER NEWS... - Ryan Seacrest Productions has inked a two-year overall deal with CBS Television Studios to develop scripted projects (Deadline.com); Twentieth Television has sold the basic cable syndication rights for "New Girl" to TBS and MTV in a deal valued at $300,000-$400,000 each (Deadline.com); Kaitlin Olson will also drop by the comedy as "the fiance of Rob Reiner's Bob Day and the high school nemesis of Jess and Cece" (EW.com); Mary McCormack and Josh Randall will both guest on "Scandal" in yet-to-be-revealed roles (EW.com);
Jacob Pitts is bound for "Elementary" as "a brilliant and wealthy mathematician who assembles a team of his fellow math geniuses to help identify a killer that Holmes and Watson are tracking" (EW.com); Alicia Coppola will guest on "Criminal Minds" as "the head of a Morgellons syndrome support group who's willing to go as far as she can to protect group members privacy" (TVLine.com); Kyle Howard's Paul Van Dyke will return to "Royal Pains" alongside Danny Masterson as his brother, "a wealthy hedge fund manager who needs a kidney transplant but is reluctant to accept his brother's organ" (TVGuide.com); and Michael C. Hall is attached to star in a mini-series based on Stanley Kubrick's unproduced drama "God Fearing Man"(THR.com).
