IGGY AZALEA AND SAM SMITH TO HEADLINE TIME WARNER CABLE AND LIFEBEAT 2014 "MTV VIDEO MUSIC AWARDS" CONCERT FRIDAY, AUGUST 22 IN LOS ANGELES

Time Warner Cable Will Hold a Ticket Giveaway for LA Customers Thursday, August 14 at the Beverly Connection Mall

New York, NY (August 14, 2014) - MTV and Time Warner Cable today announced that "MTV Artists to Watch" singer-songwriters and chart-toppers Iggy Azalea and Sam Smith will headline the 2014 "MTV Video Music Awards" concert to benefit Lifebeat - Music Fights HIV/AIDS, a national nonprofit focused on educating America's youth about HIV/AIDS prevention. The special concert will take place at The Avalon in Los Angeles on Friday, August 22 as a lead up to the 2014 "MTV Video Music Awards" that will air live from The Forum in Inglewood, CA on Sunday, August 24 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Time Warner Cable will be holding a ticket giveaway exclusively for customers in the Southern California region on August 18th. Residential customers with accounts in good standing can pick up two tickets at the Time Warner Cable store located in the Beverly Connection Mall in Los Angeles beginning the morning of August 14. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Two tickets per account holder; a valid ID must be presented to claim the tickets.

After being nominated for the "MTV Artist to Watch" Award in 2013, Azalea is set to make her debut VMA performance on Sunday night where she will perform her new single "Black Widow," which is currently flying up the charts, along with "MTV Artist to Watch" alumni Rita Ora. Azalea has received seven nominations this year including the highly coveted "Video of the Year," "Best Female Video," "Best Pop Video" and "Best Collaboration" categories and more. In addition, her new single Fancy remained atop the Billboard charts at #1 for a record-setting seven weeks.

Nominated in this year's "Artist to Watch" category, Sam Smith will also vie for the "Best Male Video" during the 2014 "MTV Video Music Awards." Smith recently made U.S. pop music history with his debut album, In The Lonely Hour, selling more copies in its first week of release than any other debut album by a UK male artist in the 23-year history of Soundscan. Beginning in September, he will embark on his second sold-out North American tour.

As part of its ongoing mission to deliver messages of HIV awareness and prevention to America's youth, the annual VMA/Lifebeat Benefit Concert has become a major staple in the lead-up to the VMA's, with concerts featuring on-the-verge artists and major acts, such as Macklemore, Robin Thicke, The Beastie Boys, Maroon 5, and more.

This is the third year in a row that Time Warner Cable has partnered with Lifebeat to present this concert.
