THE HUFFINGTON POST LAUNCHES "HUFFPOST DR. PHIL," A GLOBAL DESTINATION FOR DR. PHIL'S TELL-IT-LIKE-IT-IS ADVICE
New York, New York - September 3, 2014 - Arianna Huffington and Dr. Phil McGraw today announced 'HuffPost Dr. Phil,' a new vertical on The Huffington Post that will provide a Dr. Phil-branded experience, starting conversations on a range of subjects, from relationships, sex, health and parenting to money, bullying, domestic violence and mental illness. The Huffington Post is the leading global source of breaking news, opinion, entertainment, and community.
The site launches today, coinciding with the premiere of DR. PHIL's 13th season on Tuesday, September 9 (check local listings), and will include advice from the renowned TV host and mental health professional, his take on current news stories and clips from the top-rated daytime talk show. 'HuffPost Dr. Phil' will also feature exclusive video and direct access to Dr. Phil with an "Ask Dr. Phil" section. True to HuffPost's DNA, the vertical will also feature blog posts from other voices in the Dr. Phil universe, including Robin McGraw, producers and Dr. Phil staff to provide a behind-the-scenes look at his show, and HuffPost readers eager to share their own stories.
"I'm really excited to bring Dr. Phil and his team to our nearly 100 million monthly readers, both here and around the world," said Arianna Huffington, President and Editor-In-Chief of The Huffington Post Media Group. "For almost 13 years, Dr. Phil has used his show to put the spotlight on the lives, struggles and potential of real-life people, and we look forward to hosting the kind of conversations on HuffPost that have delighted and informed millions of television viewers for so long."
"I'm proud of this new association with Arianna and The Huffington Post, which in just a short time has become a key online media destination," said Dr. Phil. Adding, "I look forward to providing the same unique, top-drawer content we've been delivering for years to our loyal viewers, and positively introducing our distinctive brand to a new audience."
The vertical will combine HuffPost's dedicated online community with Dr. Phil's unique voice to create a new platform where users can dig deeper on important topics relating to everyday life. 'HuffPost Dr. Phil' joins The Huffington Post platform two years after the successful launch of HuffPost OWN, a partnership between HuffPost and Oprah.com, which reached 9 million unique visitors in June 2014.
